No problem with it. There isn't a direct line between the brake port and the lens of the light, and I've never had anything beyond cosmetic damage from muzzle blast hitting a pistol or rifle light. It's also not nearly as close as it looks in the picture. I've stripped and repainted it a few times but I don't recall ever seeing damage to the anodizing.
I almost always shoot with a can anyways, and the light spends just as much time, if not more, on my shotgun.
The light is mounted back on the left hand side of the rail, and it's a LaRue Battlelight, so it's not going anywhere unless I want it to.
