hey guys I am looking into getting a scope for my flattop AR I will be using the gun at the range almost exclusively but there's always a possibility I might do some kind of hunting with it but nothing more then varmints

I have been looking at the NC Star Mark III scopes they have 2 models that I am interested in there is a 6x42 and a 3-9x42 I am not sure if i should get the fixed magnification scope or the adjustable one

Well the general feeling is that a piece of white dog shit will be better mounted on top your rifle.

Save your money get something at least in this area http://www.leupold.com/tactical/prod...R-riflescopes/

ncstar might very well be the single biggest piece of shit scopes on the planet in our current era. very few seem to survive un-packing from the box, let along actual firing while mounted to a rifle.

otherwise, i'm not really up on the cheap scope market, so i can't offer an alternative. some people seem happy with Vortex optics, a site sponser, and they're cheap.

    hmm

It comes down to this, if you don't skimp on your firearm, why skimp on parts or optics. Better to save up for quality products than get instant gratification with a cheap piece of junk. Glad to hear your considering saving up. You could try Long range supply, they have a nice inventory of quality optics. For Red Dots I would go with G&R or BCM. Also you might check Botach out, their CS is getting tons better. Here is link for long range.

Yeah I have the 3x9 p4 sniper ncstar scope. It fits fine on my flat top, but would be a little bit better on a raiser. It took me forever to get it sighted in. Much longer then any other scope Iv used. Not bad, but not the best.

I'm probably going to return and save a bit more for something more at my Noveske accuracy level. It will do what you need it to

i guess i should of asked in my first post. What type of flat top AR are you mounting the scope too? And what is your use for this rifle? Are you using it as a plinker/hunting/fun gun? As you already know, theres a big difference between a powered scope, fix or non power scope. And theres a difference between a red dot and a cross hair.

After putting the 3x9 scope on my flat top, just wasnt the right route for my self defense purpose rifle. It worked well, just wouldnt work well from 5ft -50ft.

Yes, i had a chance to grab a compact scope and i jumped on it. Was it the best choice. well of course not, and its the wrong way for my rifle. But im a hands on type of guy. Words just dont amount up to what first hands experince will. Ill be returning it and probably be picking up a Eotech. Ill post some pics once i do.

NC Star is never the answer unless the question has "airsoft" in it.
