Getting a new smart phone have an app question

Hey guys, I'm about to purchase a smart phone (iPhone, Droid, Blackberry etc...) and was curious as to which platform has shooting utility applications (Shot clocks etc...). What thoughts do you guys have on these applications across whatever platform you use. If you don't use one, why not and which platform do you use? I don't want to wind up buying a phone that doesn't have these applications available.

I have a Droid phone and the app is horrible. I know iPhone has Surefire's Shot Timer and I've heard very good things about it. There is another made by an ammo company but I can't remember which one but it is for the iPhone.

Taurus and Surefire have free apps for the iPhone, there are a few that come up under "IPSC" in iTunes search. The only issue I had with the iPhone one is positioning. I had what I thought were my best F.A.S.T times go un-recorded because of it. I am not sure if you want to guage a purchase of a smart phone for its role as a shot timer.

The Surefire app is good until you start shooting quickly. It cant distinguish consistently between quickly fired shots.

That isn't the only thing I am taking into consideration for my purchase, but it did pop into my mind. What didn't you like about the Droid apps Jaxman? Orionz, do you have a gen 1 iPhone? I heard they had some problems due to the microphone. Are there any shot clocks that operate better than the Surefire one that cost? I wouldn't mind paying for an app if it has reliable function.

What gen iPhone do you have? I'm curious as to whether this is due to speed of fire and the microphone not being able to distinguish a heavy string of fire, or if it is a problem with the app itself.

Well on the Droid app the start beep is recorded as the first shot every time so you've got to do some math in your head. Also you can't store any times AND (the most aggravating thing) is that after every drill you have to back all the way out of the app to reset it.

That sounds horrible. How does the Droids microphone keep up with the app though? Does it catch shots even when they are fired in rapid succession?

Now I will give that app credit where its due. It does catch fast splits very well. Why it records the first shot as the beep I don't know. I've tried different sensitivity settings and it didn't help

If apps are a priority, steer clear of blackberry. There are not that many. I would like an iphone but insurance is no longer available. With my job, the insurance would be a requirement. I am not ready to jump to a droid. I think they will rock in the future, but for now, I am going to let them iron out the wrinkles.
