    Rifle Scabbard for a Motorcycle?

So I've acquired my first motorcycle, an older KLR650, for commuting to work and I need a way to bring my rifle with me. It doesn't have to be stealthy or super secure because it will only be used to transport my work rifle which will never be left unattended on the bike.

I'm not willing to carry it on my person while I ride because it seems like a spectacular way to aggravate any injuries that might occur if I go down with the bike.

I think the best option is going to be some sort of fork mounted scabbard but all the ones I've seen are more for hunting rifles and I don't want to pay to have one custom made. Does anyone know a company that makes a scabbard specifically for an AR-15? Anyone use a similar setup on their bike? Any reason this would be a bad idea?

I used to have an XT350 that sported a scabbard during squirrel season. It was just a regular leather scabbard like you'd use on a horse. Held my 1022 on the left side, muzzle between left ankle and frame, butt stock up by tail light. Not sure what kind of scabbard you'd need to pack an M4, maybe just a "tactical" type case attached with some extra webbing??? Or, what about those handle bar gun racks made for ATV's? I think Cabela's has them.
    Good luck

I would think you still stand a chance of going down on top of, or anything mounted on your bike being a "factor" almost the same
as if you were wearing it in a pack.

I'm picturing you on your dual-spot with your AR on your back
riding through traffic and every uneducated fool that sees you
scrambling to call 911 on their cell phones. lol

Same as Gump said i have seen scabbards on cabelas.
Only thing i could find on a google search is a picture of someone who bungee corded a hard case to their bike.

Location tag says he's in Prescott, AZ. I doubt anyone would bat an eye at such a thing in that area.

"It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge. War endures. As well ask men what they think of stone. War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner."

Not knowwing what kind of work we're talking. . . if you have to carry the rifle home with you every day or if there is a locker you can secure it in. . . I'd stick to packing pistol on bike and using my car when I want to move a long arm.

If however rifle to and from work everyday is the plan. the KLR does have saddlebag mounting options and that picture PdxMotoxer looks like a just fine solution. I think I'd opt for a more non-descript hardcase, something rectangular that could be a guitar or something, maybe throw some band stickers on it.

Riding a motorcycle with a case that is "obviously gun" is very much like those folks who open carry in CA but can't have their guns loaded. Just screams "free gun" to the motivated criminal.
