MBI for new cars

I skipped the CPO warranty when we purchased the V-70R in October 03...not enough money to get it.

I did get Mechanical Breakdown Insurance from my insurance company.

My 16 year old daughter now knows how to drive a manual transmission but the transmission is having issues. I took the car for a scheduled service this morning and then went to my insurance company to see what they would cover:

I just returned from the dealership & insurance company. The dealer recommended replacement of the following:

Clutch assy w/fly wheel $2800
Angle gear reseal w/clutch assy replacement $230
Front brake pads and rotors $735
Oil filler cap seal $5

Insurance company is treating the clutch as one incident, my deductable is $250.
The brakes are being treated as another incident, my deductable is $250.

This doesn't raise the rates since it is mechanical...

The dealership will cover the loaner car so our total outlay of cash is $500 for a new clutch, rotors and brake pads.

I recommend that you check with you insurance company about MBI if you are buying a new car. The coverage last to 7 years or 100,000 miles. Total cash outlay for the insurance was 1200 spread out through 6 years.
