Precisely. It is yet another means by which socialist agitators seek to gain control. Once in control they will be just as contradictory. There's a reason why "We've always been at war with EastAsia!" made it into 1984. Remarking about the fall from grace of Lin Bao in China, an unnamed Chinese peasant said: "Yesterday they [the communist leaders] say something is round. Today they say it is square. If you pretend to notice this, they jail you."

New ice age, global warming, mass starvation, human extinction..."The earth has always been warming!"

Awe man. . . . leaded gas. My motorcycle always ran better for a tank or two after a fill up with 110 leaded. Yum.

Pesticides and fetilizers are the reason so many people eat every day. Both create huge increases in crop productivity.

Banning DDT consigned millions of people who lacked the ability to defend themselves from malaria to, well, getting malaria.

    JW777,

Great post and great reference. Every high school student should read 1984 just so each generation can see a glimpse of what true government control can look like. I recently asked one of the young Airman out here it they had ever heard of Big Brother. She said "Yeah. That's a show on TV, right?" I had to educate her a little bit, then I called my wife and asked her to send me out my copy to let her read it.

You are spot on with "The Earth has always been warming!" quote. When are the environmentalists going to realize that the Earth in not static; it is dynamic and it changes constantly. We cannot possibly keep the climate as it is right now for the next 4.5 billion years, and to think we can, as humans, is incredibly arrogant.

Interesting, though, to see how the predictions could be lifted from news articles published today. Same old song, different day.

How they went from ice age to global warming was a complete change in position - one that went largely unnoticed until a few right wing outlets started pointing that out and the the whole thing changed it name to 'climate change'.

The whole environmentalism issue has been completely co-opted by leftist progressives as a means of furthering their own agenda. It is no longer about protecting or conserving resources, it is about control over people using the environment as a club to beat them into submission.
And don't forget killer bee's. As a kid I was told by this time we'd be freezing our asses off and hiding from killer bee's.

1976: Fear of a great plague

By PAUL MICKLE / The Trentonian

On the cold afternoon of February 5, 1976, an Army recruit told his drill instructor at Fort Dix that he felt tired and weak but not sick enough to see military medics or skip a big training hike.

Within 24 hours, 19-year-old Pvt. David Lewis of Ashley Falls, Mass., was dead, killed by an influenza not seen since the plague of 1918-19, which took 500,000 American lives and 20 million worldwide.

Two weeks after the recruit's death, health officials disclosed to America that something called "swine flu" had killed Lewis and hospitalized four of his fellow soldiers at the Army base in Burlington County.

The ominous name of the flu alone was enough to touch off civilian fear of an epidemic. And government doctors knew from tests hastily conducted at Dix after Lewis' death that 500 soldiers had caught swine flu without falling ill.

Any flu able to reach that many people so fast was capable of becoming another worldwide plague, the doctors warned, raising these questions:

Does America mobilize for mass inoculations in time to have everybody ready for the next flu season? Or should the country wait to see if the new virus would, as they often do, get stronger to hit harder in the second year?

I'm shocked that this fact was glossed over by the liberal media!
