Question MS-2 For Use With UBR

    Hey Guys,

Seems like the UBR stock is becoming popular to balance out (or move balance point to the rear more) SBRs...is there any plan to add an ASAP style attachment option for the UBR...if there isn't, should there be? Personally, I think it would make a great, versatile stock even better and sell like matches in the middle ages! Just aking/suggesting!

Thanks...keep on making the best stuff around!!

I talked to Drake in February about an ASAP plate that would clamp the receiver extension instead of the current version's method of installation. Lots of different operators can't remove the receiver extension to install an ASAP Plate due to policies limiting modifications to issue weapons. Drake listened, understood the problem and the need but explained a few manufacturing/engineering issues with the idea. Nice guys at Magpul. I look forward to training with them again soon.

    Cool,

I figured someone was thinking about it. Specifically, I was thinking about something that would mount on the spot of the forward QD socket on the underside near the rear endplate. I figured the manufacturing changes would be too great to actually allow an ASAP to mount in front of the stock. I was thinking more of an "upgrade" to be purchased separately. Good to know they are working on it. I'll ask them whenever I make it to a class!

    Thanks,

That's really my only complaint with the UBR design. I'm getting around it right now with a KAC ball-lock eyelet, but I'd prefer something more like an ASAP's loop.

What I did to make a Magpul MS2 sling work with a UBR was to mod a GEAR Sector QD adapter removing the plastic buckle and replacing it with a D ring and resewing it together.

Great idea Robb! I may try that. What I was thinking about was a bolt that would secure through the QD slot and have a stout ring under it like an ASAP. We'll see. Thanks.

I tried using a QD like that and had problems catching it under the web of my hand. YMMV, of course - I have broad palms and use a high grip.

I too tend to catch on the QD's metal loop, and while I entertained the though of using the KAC stud, it seems like the new ASAP-UBR solution is going to be the real winner overall.

That said, if you 'need' an ASAP or DD/Noveske QD endplate attachment AND the constant-cheekweld on adjustable stock, the ERGO Licence built M93's will work with those endplates.

Sewing! You might as well told me to use a fusion reactor

I've tried a bunch of stuff, maybe someone can complete some of my half-baked ideas.

The QD cup is reversible, so I just took it off and tried running plastic covered wire rope thru and make a loop, but I never could figure out a way to make the loop small enough and make the loop junction points strong enough.

I've been looking for a carbinier or a D Ring big enough but thin enough to feed thru that same hole.

I've thought about putting QD cups on either side of the rifle and using two of HeavyDuty's KAC Eyelets on either side of the to string some wire thru. At $50 a pop X2, that is just getting to expensive to play with with out a set solution on the loop.
