The Pens better figure this kid out in a hurry!
I'm so heartbroken that we lost

I know what your saying about the "new" Caps fans. Lot's of people jumped on the bandwagon once we got Ovechkin. I've been a Caps fan since I was a little boy, back in the Dale Hunter days. I have fond memory's of going to Piney Orchard ice arena which is 25 minutes from my house and watching the Caps practice and getting to meet and get autographs from Dale Hunter, Adam Oates, Peter Bondra, Chris Simon, Richard Zednik, Jeff Halpern, Oli Kolzig, and may others. It is nice to finally have a really good team after all these years, but the bandwagon fans can be annoying.

Of course the caps lost. They played the Montreal CANADIENS for crying out loud. No fancy animal names or anything, just coming out like, "We are the Canadians and tonight, we **** you up".

Anyway, did anybody see the embarrassment the Redwings dealt to the Coyotes last night?

Most people in this area are die-hard Redskins fans. This has been a football town for way too long. I welcome any and all new fans to support the Caps even if its only because of their most recent playoff appearances. The Redskins and the Wizards haven't given us much to cheer about in the last 10 years. I still stand behind the Skins despite Daniel Snyder.

It's exciting to see a Washington team with winning ways and players even if it was short lived. It's been a long time since that has happened in this city. Maybe next year Caps.

I would like to see the caps get some defense. They were stopped because they were going to rely on winning every game scoring 7 goals. I cant wait to see the aftermath of the Sid vs. Ovechkin arguments.

Speaking of relying on a high power offense to win every game.....that was an interesting last 2 minutes in the 3rd period. The Caps were so close to tying that game.

    Thumbs up

If you missed the Bruins-Flyers game today you missed a great one. Marc Savard (playing in his first game since March 7) scored the game winner in OT.

I did miss it but I checked online and the Bruins were up 2-0.

I think it's great for hockey in general that Caps are selling out and more and more people are following them (and hockey). I can remember going to Caps games when there were more Penguins fans in the stands than Capitals fans!

However, this new crop of fans have a lot to learn and trying to talk hockey with them is painful. Hopefully some of them will like hockey for what it is and stick around and learn about the sport.

Until then, if they weren't fans or even know that DC had a hockey team before 2006-2007 I'm not dealing with them.

Does this mean you're not gonna "Rock the Red" next year?

Not really. I'll watch the Caps and would go to a game but that's about it. I saw that Caps play twice this season (both away games) but as long as it's a good game I'm happy. I really only go crazy over the Penguins, Boston University or my son's hockey team
