watching it here now before I let my little one watch it

so far the interviews ruin it for sure but not the complete show I wont throw away the baby with the bath water analogy

I did find some things interesting and of course some things very slanted

its to bad the history channel has gone downhill over the years or am I just more aware of the slant these days ?

I think mainstream channels in a sense are good to watch and keep a ear to as one would think History channel is non bias so when people tell you things like
well the civil war was all about slavery !!! you know where they might have gotten that from

so you could correct them and say some of it was social and some was status financially some of it was the state vs federal control and some of it was Lincoln himself getting in the office and of course slavery was a component


WOW that kinda sounds like today if we replace Lincoln with obama and slavery with racism !!! OK had to throw that in sorry back to the history channel point

Agree that the celebrity shit is annoying, but if handled correctly that's a teaching point for kids too. We've already discussed what it is that qualifies an actor to talk about history, and are using Google to review their level of education. "Qualified opinion" and all that.

Excuse me for being so dense, but I think I missed something a while ago. Why are ZDL's posts always just "*******"? I don't currently have a security clearance, are they classified, redacted, censored, or self censored? Time sensitive? An inside joke perhaps? Clue me in. Thanks.

While I want to stay away from this issue, I will answer you since you are one of the more respected communicators here and someone who I admire as such. Even after only 38 posts.

There was a thread that went downhill which some of us were involved in, he then left the forum.

Again, thanks for the superb demonstrations of communication.

Thanks Safetyhit, you are too kind. I saw quite a few respected names in the thread and knew one of you would clue me in. I recalled the incident in question and went back through my archived threads (offline) so now I’m up to speed. As for the low post count, I like to sneak in quietly and lay up to listen and observe. There is a wealth of experience across many disciplines on this forum, and the signal-to-noise ratio is very high. You are a part of that, so thanks again. All the best.

ignoring some of the speakers, I thought the overall show was good, learned a lot of things I never knew. Don't let Bloomberg showing up for 30 seconds of a 2 hour show ruin it for you.

Or Henry "that cop was racist" Gates I think they had quite a few poor choices for speakers. Like P diddy, he was virtually reading off a script. He couldnt give two shits about our history. Or donald trump But the show itself was pretty good. The part where that family ate each other was a bit weird though

but I had more respect for him after I heard him say something like !

" I am a rock start and anything I or other celebrities say about politics should be ignored"

that was the jest of it but made me smile and think thats cool at least he is honest about it
