    Mossberg 930

The Mossberg 930 security shotguns seem to be very popular despite the company's terrible track record with the semi-auto shotgun. Does anybody have info about the 930 in terms of standards for quality of materials and manufacturing? I'm curious about what it looks like internally. Comments?

I probably have a few thousand rounds through my 930, I shoot skeet with it. No problems really, keep it lubed up and it will cycle all ammo.

Shotguns are 3rd tier for me so I can't speak technically on them much but our 930 has run very well through some light use - a few 3 gun matches. From slugs through 20 year old reloads (trap loads).

I've been running a 930 SPX for about two and half years. If you know what to look for, and what to do when you get it, it should run just fine. Mossberg royally screwed themselves with known issues that were completely ignored and then made worse through crappy CS. The CS part was due in large part to the poor QC that put the problems in the field in the first place.
If I were to get another 930, it would be a Field/Security combo.
Here's my experience with the 930 SPX. I'll be adding to it pretty soon with a few other new items.

Very interesting review you've kept going there. Well done, and thank you for taking the time to keep the review updated. Did you ever get the tritium ghost ring sights put on your 930, or is that still yet to come?

    Steve:
Thanks. I'll be updating it again fairly soon, I'm just waiting on a few more things. I had AimPro do some barrel work on a spare barrel last summer, and I've been running a Micro for a little while on it.
The tritium LPA inserts are apparently hard to find in stock. Additionally, the rear sight apeture becomes rather blocky with the tritium vials and their housings, so you lose some of the ghost ring effect.
Kimber/Wilson is working on a tritium front blade.
I am also working on another possiblity for a tritium front.

M24shooter,does the Nordic clamp walk under recoil? I understand it is aluminum.I got my 930 SPX from an individual who had only put 12 rounds through it and got the hots for a certain rifle and sold the shotgun to me. It came with a heavy plastic clamp he had installed and after a hundred or so rounds,I couldn't keep it tight enough to prevent it from walking forward.I also notice that yours seems to be mounted farther forward than the one that I received with my shotgun. Of course it stopped walking when it reached the front sight. Still an aggravation, tho.

    Doc-
I haven't had any problems with it walking during firing.
Here are a few new items that I just got that I'll be reviewing.

I ordered a bolt handle from Elite Tactical Advantage, and Mark called me later to ask if I would be interested in reviewing some of their other stuff. I said sure, so here's a look at some of the stuff I'll be working on.

    The ETA bolt handle.

A compro of the ETA handle (center) and MAX100's NOB (right). Tru Ball for scale.

    The bolt handle installed.

The enlarged safety and associated parts.

Compro between the ETA safety (top) and the Vang safety (below).

View of safety port with safety removed. Silver ball is the safety detent. Bolt locked to the rear, safety mechanism "ON."

    Safety installed, "pointed" up.

    Safety installed, "pointed" down.

The Bulldozer next to my SPX.

The receiver end of the Bulldozer.

The muzzle end of the Bulldozer, Fed Tac shown for scale.

View of forward left oblique of the Bulldozer.
