Howdy folks-
I'm going to need a rear sight for a flat top upper coming, it already has a fixed front sight. Can I use the MBUS with a fixed, or do I need to spend the extra dough to get an MI or something to work with the fixed front?

Works fine, why wouldn't it? I'm currently running an MBUS rear with a fixed front on two different ARs with no complaints.

Just wanted to check! Couldn't find anything using the search, but I thought I'd recalled someone saying you couldn't for some reason.
I'm gonna give it a whirl then, thanks!
Another option is the Matech BUIS, offers both adjustment and windage and is US issue. The price is right, between $40 -50 shipped.
The only problem with the Matech (and my experience with it is limited to one 18 month deployment) is that after a while, it won't stay down...at which point you start wondering why it's billed as a "flip-up" anyway.
I run MBUS rear behind DD Fixed front sights exclusively, and my wife runs MBUS rear behind F front sights.
My 600m Matech works great backing up my MR/T, but for affordably mounting and retaining a solid 50/200yd zero, the MBUS works just as well.

Agreed! Totally valid given a ham handed effort by the lowest common denominator. In some cases policy or standing order is needed to insure the non-dedicated personnel do not touch this sight. Optimum choice here would be a fixed BUIS and avoid the folding units for issue.
