VIDEOS: South African Police Special Task Force

Here you go. I like these. The films were made back in around 2000 but they are still relevant nowadays even with the new SA.

I have seen specials on them before. They have a tough job for sure.

In the first video...@ 13:10...you see the driver with his pistol unholstered and actually in his hand as he is driving! Talk about operational readiness!

Also, I see a couple of the operatives wearing German flags on their shoulders?

Standard training procedure for Tier One type units. In the UK there have been a couple of famously publicised occurences of this:

1 When Margaret Thatcher sat in the big chair she visited Hereford and was put in a boiler suit and played hostage in the killing house.

    2. When Diana married Prince Charles she went along for her training day. She wore a boiler suit with "HRH Hers" embroidered on it and was placed in the killing house in the role of hostage........flash bang, rat a tat tat. She loved it.

It is standard SOP to put all top level Politicos and Royals thru the experience. I would assume that Delta or FBI HRT provide a similar experience.

Sadly, with the Blades having to maintain their edge there are accidents. A few years back one of the guys died in the killing house. The inquiry showed accidental death.

Trust me, they are not boxheads. They are wearing military surplus gear. It is almost impossible to get Mil Surplus in SA so they take what they can get. BTW if anyone can get me a 'Second Pattern SA Camo shirt' I'd be more than happy.

I read that Delta did that for both Regan and Bush Sr

These guys are awesome. @ 22 mins 1st video, roll up on the bait car, one bg runs to the vic's 7oclock, gets shot in the back as he's running. Then the camera pans around in time to see BG truck number 1 hit the roadside berm and jump into to field being lit up w FAL fire while the 2nd truck bursts into flames from the onboard malotov cocktails.

Good documentary - those guys have a tough job.

Still, the whole time I was just waiting for one of the guys to say "prawns."
