Now that's just old school cool.

    That's a good looking M37.

Very nice! I'll try to get a better picture of mine sometime. That was taken on one of those overcast, gray winter days and the light sucked. I have no idea what the year is on mine, but it looks very similar to yours. Mine has no proof marks, though. It has no PD markings either, but I believe it was part of a batch of police department trade-ins.

And thanks, Templar. The "old school cool" factor is part of what appealed to me. I think the M37 is one of those forgotten American classics...

Thanks Tiger. I would like to see more pictures of it, it appears to be a very nice example.

Not all the Military 37s had the standard Govt. markings, I learned this tidbit from the old Ithaca historian. Apparently, they needed weapons badly and were buying about anything they could get, field grade etc. Does your barrel have the relief notches for the heat-shield?

If you wish, you can PM me your serial number and I might be able to tell you the year of manufacture.

No, mine doesn't have those notches. I guess it makes sense that there would be some military guns without proof marks considering the circumstances.

I bought mine at a local place that is a large law enforcement distributor, and it was one of about twenty-five Ithacas they got in all at once. I didn't ask for details, but that's why I think it was PD trade-in. All of them were in the basic riot gun configuration, but most of the guns were blued and had the engraved receivers (it has ducks on, I think ) and there were only two that were parked and had plain receivers. I bought the better of the two.

I'm curious to know the year of manufacture. I'll try to remember to check the serial number when I get home. Thanks.
