Another early A1 clone. Still haven't gotten around to shooting this one, but in person it's one damn elegant rifle. Since the photo was taken I've put a proper "no tick" safety on it.
And a 727-esque carbine in old skool tactical mode. Remember when a 65 lumen weaponlight was considered "bright"? Although to be honest the optic is just for the photo op, this is an irons only gun. And the old TLR-1 has been replaced with a Surefire G2X.
Here is the latest pic of all of my retro AR builds ranging from a Model 602 to a M16A2.

Wow! What a great collection of the AR!!!
Nabbed this picture from an article.

Obviously the entire carry handle/rear sight has been removed as well.
That might actually be a 10.5" barrel, so an XM177E1, but it could be an 11.5" XM177E2 with basically the entire FSB removed except for a little nub where the gas tube enters and is retained by the roll pin.
I'm not actually sure how that scope is mounted...

I found the subject’s blog and sent a message inquiring. I’ll post back if he responds.

The scope mount is probably drilled & tapper or silver soldered to the barrel, either on top with a hole to let the tube pass through, or is an L mount fixed to the side.
It's possible they installed the modified upper on a A1 rifle lower. Push Pull, Click Click! Change Uppers That Quick!
