I decided to gloss up the dull RRA 6-hole handguards from my GUU-5/P and 733 clones.
I took the handguards off and hit them with three coats of glossy clear coat, with the intention of making them look more like shiny new Colt 6-holers.
It didn't work. The gloss cured strangely, so instead of looking like new Colt handguards, they actually kind of look like Colt handguards that have some miles on them.....which is also kinda cool.
GUU-5/Ps are the perfect clone project for the lazy or budget-minded Retrohead, because there are basically no rules. Different parts combinations, mismatched colors, it all works.
I have zero affiliation with the US Air Force but I find the variations in their franken-carbines fascinating. And my GUU is one of my coolest clones in my opinion.
