Why would they choose this over a 77 gr. OTM type projectile?

Mk. 262 Mod. 01, or Nosler Custom Competition come to mind.

Magic_Salad0892: Perhaps because 77 gr OTM's offer incredibly POOR terminal performance after first penetrating intermediate barriers and for LE use, where there is a high incidence of potential engagements around or involving vehicles, ammunition that is able to effectively penetrate intermediate barriers, particularly vehicle glass, is CRITICAL.

    DocGKR:

Do 62 gr. type projectiles have better inherent barrier penetration than their 77 gr. counterparts?

Kind of related: Is 75 gr. TAP an OTM?

In other words, we know that non-bonded loads like the Hornady 8126N have a threshold below which they no longer fragment reliably. Is there an analogous threshold for these bonded loads below which they don't expand or don't offer anything beyond a .22 caliber hole?
One of the benefits of bonded core bullets is their performance through a wide range of velocities. In gelatin, you can expect good penetration, (15"-17") expansion, (.45-.55"+) and weight retention (98-100%) with them out of 10" barrels, and that performance will still be superior after passing through barriers.
