Stand your ground; don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here. -- Captain John Parker, Lexington, 1775.
JWR,
Yes, it some aspects it will be easier (lighter and shorter) the trade off of course is increased sound and muzzle flash. If you have never fired a short barrelled weapon indoors before I suggest you give it a try sometime. The sound is pretty deafening.
I understand that the weapon may also be an "investment" for you but I would not really consider it for home defense unless I was being attacked by the zombie horde.
For one thing as I said before without training you and or the Mrs. will be more of a liability. Secondly, that weapon will be taken from you in the even of a shooting and it will sit somewhere for a while until everything is resolved.
I urge you again to think about the whole situation and then make an informed decision.

Iraqgunz is correct. If you have never shot a firearm indoors, go to a shoot house at a training facility or some abandoned farm house and give it a try wearing GOOD HEARING PROTECTION.
I shot a 22lr Anschutz 1813 in an all concrete range without hearing protection ONCE. I think my ears still ring 20+ years later from that poor choice.![]()
JRW,
Have you considered a "pencil" barreled AR-15 for your wife. A lightweight barrel versus an HBAR typically found on most AR-15's may be the solution you are looking for.
Best Regards,
Sid
Well, I have my dealer starting to look for a pair of LWRC PSDs or M6A2 (12.7 barrel) or Noveske Diplomats or Crusaders. Both me and my wife are filling out the NFA paper work for these rifles, one for her and one for me. I think I am going to get a 6.8 and a 5.56. Will we face any problems with purchasing two different weapons for the same address with one in my name and one in hers? I was not sure if this would through up some kind of issue since it was the same house two different people.
Oh, the Colt lower is a real Colt, got to hold it and look it over today; I am trying to talk him into holding it me until after we get our new rifles.

When I said "Filing for a license", I was referring to sending in our NFA paper work in order to purchase these rifles. Sorry, I should have used the correct language; I edited it to read correctly.
I'm a little more confused by the thread the more I read it. It kind of reminds me of the 50 year old guy buying his first Harley going through a mid life crisis. Then dumping it for lack of experience.
License, FA, SBR's for the wife and I. Kind of bizarre.

If you are NOT putting these rifles into a trust or similar legal entity, you are doing yourself and your wife a dis-service. In a trust, you and your wife can legally possess either rifle without the other person supervising "their" rifle. What happens when you get a 6.8SPC and your wife gets a 5.56 and you want to take "her" rifle to the range or a training class? On personal Form 4's, you are looking at jail time if you do that. On a trust it would be legal.
