Questions about AR pistol buffer tubes.

SBR's are not legal in my state unless if's an NFA registered full auto. I would love to have a SBR but it's just not going to happen do I decided to build an AR pistol.

Cool thing is I can carry it as a CPL/CCW gun, hence wanting to build one.

OK.. Lowers... I want to be able to shoulder this pistol like a rifle so I'm looking for buffer tubes that have a little bit of length to them.

I currently have a MILSPEC stock tube with 6 positions. I run my Magpul CTR stock on the number two outward setting. From the back of the lower to the back of my stock, it's exactly 9 inches.

Does anyone make a round buffer tube that's 9 inches?

Also for you AR pistol owners that shoulder them, what setups are you running?

Buffer tubes are 7-ish inches typically. Don't think anyone makes an 'extended' buffer tube. Pistol buffer tubes can be normal size of around 7.5" or much shorter...just get the normal ones.

Yes it's a bit shorter LOP, but you'll get over it. It's really not that bad.

you could modify a rifle extension... weld over the stock screw hole or something.

i'm pretty sure you still wont be able to shoulder it, however... the problem with pistols isn't the length, it's the hight- the tube sits too high to be able to make contact with both cheek and shoulder.

but maybe you're flexible enough to make it work... i can only speculate.

You could try a ban-era fixed telestock tube (sans stock, of course).

IIRC, whatever you use as a buffer tube, it cannot accept a stock. Keep in mind, the definition of ability to accept a stock is not up to you so I'd be very careful.

the spikes lower is pretty nice. I have ran a few rounds through mine and really enjoy it. The tube with their neoprene cover makes for a very nice and comfortable cheek weld. The recoil is so small that a shoulder contact is not needed imho. Of course with one less point of contact for stability you will loose accuracy. Hopefully going to play with mine today and work on sighting in the buis and XPS and will report on accuracy of it later.

ran 90 rounds through the spikes pistol and had a blast doing it. It can shoot 6 MOA groups at 100 yds off a rest with the eotech XPS and 3x magnifier and and I put 60 rounds all in the body (a pie plate size grouping) of a silhouette target at 25 yds un-supported in a fairly rapid fire, probably 3 minutes to empty two mags using a TLR2 laser to start and the XPS unmagnified to finish.

I am really happy with it.

If you cut the bolt style end off a rifle buffer tube & add a foam cover, you might be close to the length you desire.

I like the Spikes buffer tubes with foam pad. I add a rubber end cap to the end of the tube which adds another 1/2 inch of length. There's even a letter floating around from the ATF that says adding a cain tip to end of the tube is ok. This might get you another inch.
