I'm still kicking myself for not buying the 1L bottle of Johnny Walker Blue in the duty free shop in Japan. IIRC it was something like $150.

Expensive booze is a dangerous hobby, but that isn't always bad. I've got a couple cases of wine in the cellar that have more than doubled in price since I purchased them 12-18 months ago...

If you like JW Black, try some Black Bottle (far left in my pic posted above). It is hard to find in my part of the world, but costs a little less than JW Black. It is very similar to JWB, but is less watered down. It is by far the best Islay malt for the money and is the only blend that I will hunt down and buy.

I would never spend $300 on a bottle of JW Blue. Unlike wine, JW Blue will not increase in value, and at the end of the day is still just a blend.

Shrike9, No Irish for me other than Red Breast, and it is not all that great. Irish beer on the other hand is the standard by which all other beer is to be judged (followed closely by z Germans).

    David,

If your picture is any indication, it almost looks like one of the surest ways to get a decent Whiskey is just to make sure the word is "misspelled" on the bottle.

I don't drink from a can unless I'm wasted or nothing else is available. Bottle only... barring a KEG!!!

Ah.. but my friend I did not show you everything.

Balvenie is indeed a slendid whisky in all of its variations. I have enjoyed them all, except for the newer Islay Cask, which I have yet to locate. The 21yr old Port Wood is my favorite followed closely by the Double Wood.

Army Chief, the lack of an "e" and the word "Islay" somewhere on the bottle is always a very good indication of a quality dram.
