I am partial to Punch Maduro's and Double Maduro's. I have a Fuente Forbidden X that is waiting another 2.5 weeks until my son is born.

I have three suggestions. In order of preference they are Cohiba, Cohiba, and Cohiba.
Prepare for the unthinkable, as though it was inevitable.

    Congratulations to Alaskagrown!

Mike's Cigars has a great web order service and they ship UPS 2nd Day Air out of Miami. This company offers very competitive prices, and great customer service; they will help identify the right gift.

I remember seeing that thread on Grant's site as well. Only at the time I wasn't paying attention...

Macanudos for a lighter smoke and Red Dot Cohiba for a heavier one.

Padron and Montechristo make very nice cigars. Then again it has been 5 or 6 years since my last one.

My favorites, in no particular order are:

    Top picks
    Padron Anniversario or 1926 series
    Fuente Opus X
    Fuente Hemingway or Don Carlos
    Onyx

    2nd choices*
    Montecristo
    Punch
    H Upmann
    Partagas
yada, yada, yada... this could be a long list

*non-cuban varieties, since the real thing is hard to come by

Truth is there are alot of cigars out there that are pretty good these days. But for a special occasion, I'd go with something from the "Top Picks" list.

    Cheers!
