Just picked-up one of these and added a Vortec FH. It's awesome.
Here's some picks from BCM's website.

Why wouldn't you just run a midlength?
We miss you, AC.
We miss you, ToddG.
My favorite is my BCM 12.5"
I own a 10.5", 12.5" and a 14.5" and the 12.5" is the handiest one IMHO.

I have a VIS upper that I plan on putting one of the new Noveske 11.5 barrels in, however, I also already have a 10.5 SS Noveske barreled upper that I really like. I don't think you can go wrong with either length. It just depends on what you want and want to do with it.
I have an 11.5" (Colt 6933). I would like to go with a 12.5" for greater fragmentation range and a flatter trajectory without losing the practicality of an SBR for CQC.
I have two SBR's MSTN built 10.5" and a 12.5". If I were forced to pick one I'd keep my 12.5". Though the 10.5" shines under certain conditions ie shoot houses and vehicle work. Just for general work I prefer the 12.5" for the reason posted above which is even greater out of a Noveske Crusader barrel than any other 12.5. After going the NFA route I almost never shoot anything but an SBR. My 14.5's and 16's just sit in the safe.
