UPDATE: There is no update. Haven't heard back from LT yet. I'll give it till the day after the Memorial Day weekend then fire off another email.
As far as just getting a tall RDS mount and keeping the current magnifier mount, I think that would just give me the same problem but in reverse. The RDS would sit higher than the magnifier instead of lower as it does now.
I think the ticket here is to just go with what I know for a fact works. I have seen pictures all over the web of micros mounted on tall LT mounts with aimpoint magnifiers on tall LT mounts and they work and look just as portrayed on the website. So I'm going to avoid anymore franken-sight mess and go with that package.
The only problem is, that medium (HK) mount has been in my possession for months and has seen a bit of use. It wouldn't be right to demand that LT take it back in exchange for a tall one and trade the magnifier mount too. I'm perfectly OK with swapping out the magnifier mount and buying my own tall RDS mount.
(btw, G-lock, sorry I haven't responded to your PM. I don't want to get rid of that mount until I have a replacement. If you can wait until I reach a conclusion with LT, I would be more than happy to seal the deal.)
Also, LT's customer service has never really been in question as far as I'm concerned. Their well known for it and I wasn't trying to knock 'em. The "go with it" response I got from them just threw me for a loop. I guess it was their way of saying "sorry dude that is how it's supposed to look". They said they would work with me, and I am sure they will. The only reason I even brought it up on here is to see if anyone was experiencing problems with this mount combo. I initially thought that perhaps they had been milled to the wrong height. This was never a Mark Larue or Larue Tactical drama thread. I dig their stuff, I really do.
I'll throw something on here when I reach a deal with them. Thx all.
