This far north in (DFW) we have had multiple burglaries of large firearm retailers over the past couple of years.

    Gun store burglaries

'We got drugs coming north and guns going south'

The break-in at Cheaper Than Dirt Thursday wasn't the only robbery this week of a gun shop in Fort Worth.

Military Gun Supply, which was robbed early Tuesday, was also burglarized in July.

A fourth burglary was reported in November at Trader Jim Pawn Shop.

The haul at Cheap Than Dirt included 19 handguns, including 1911-style pistols like the one pictured at right.

It makes us wonder where all this ill-gotten firepower is going.

Federal agents say it may be ending up in the hands of various end users, including south-of-the-border drug cartels.

"We got drugs coming north," one agent said, "and guns going south."

The 18-year-old woman, whose name was not disclosed by police, was walking to a friend’s house about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

A black van pulled up alongside her and three men hopped out, San Juan Police Chief Juan Gonzalez said. They snatched the girl, blindfolded her and took her to Reynosa.

Mexico's problems are growing worse by the day... Mexican police helped to murder their own mayor http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/2010082...3CMuDkZXdzfNdF
The killers came for Mayor Cavazos in the early hours of Aug. 16 when seven SUV's rolled up and men in police uniforms descended on his palatial home. Servants stood back terrified, as their boss was forced away at gunpoint. On Aug. 18, his corpse was dumped on a nearby road...

...Cavazos - a member of President Felipe Calderon's conservative National Action Party - was the latest in a series of politicians who have been killed or kidnapped this year. In June, a commando group of gunmen assassinated the front-running gubernatorial candidate in the neighboring state of Tamaulipas. In May, a former presidential candidate was kidnapped from his ranch in Central Mexico and is still missing. A mayoral candidate and state legislator have also been murdered. Following the latest slaying, President Calderon said that Mexico's very democracy is under threat.

Gulf Cartel and La Famila Meeting in NL
Tuesday, August 24, 2010 | Borderland Beat Reporter Buggs

Intelligence information collected by the military in Nuevo Leon has discovered several meetings between members of the criminal organization "La Familia Michoacana" and the Gulf Cartel.

The Gulf Cartel, who is actively battling Los Zetas for control of plazas and drug trafficking routes in Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas, negotiated a pact of alliance in Morelia with "La Familia Michoacana" in October of last year, in order to fight together against Los Zetas who used to be the armed wing of the Gulf Cartel.

In various operations in over 12 municipalities of Nuevo León, members of the Seventh Military Zone, and intelligence of the armed institution have documented through statements from sicarios and "halcones" who have been apprehended, as well as from documents, emails, and diverse other sources of information, meetings from both criminal organizations that have been held in ranches, hotels, restaurants and safe houses.

Travelers frustrated as Mexico restricts payment of bridge tolls with U.S. currency

McALLEN — The drug cartels are not only impacting the numbers of people traveling to Mexico, but those who dare to do so are having their pockets impacted, too.

Toll booths on the Mexican side of most international bridges in the Rio Grande Valley have stopped accepting U.S. currency and are only taking pesos. According to an official, the measure is only temporary and is intended to fight money laundering.

Getting solid reports of a 'major' shootout in reynosa...will confirm asap.

Just read that one on Yahoo, look's like the Zeta's mowed down 72 Ecuadorean migrants. This is genocide. Funny the Hauge and UN are being silent on the current status of Mexico. If 72 illegals were shot on the US side you bet your ass they would be rasing a shit storm!

Questions surround San Juan kidnapping case as victim remains stuck in Mexico

    The Monitor

SAN JUAN — Diana Ramos said she was relieved after learning her daughter was safe and back with family after her apparent kidnapping Sunday night.

Local, county and federal investigators chased the reported kidnapping of Gabriela Hurtado for more than 19 hours Sunday night into Monday afternoon.

Hurtado was reunited with family members Monday evening. And then she was returned to her father in Reynosa — the 18-year-old is an illegal immigrant who has lived in the U.S. since she was 6.

“Customs wouldn’t let her come back,” Ramos said in Spanish. But “she’s OK.”

Some investigators familiar with the case said they question whether it was actually an abduction. Key details did not add up throughout the investigation, they said.

Several reportedly dead in Reynosa violence

    The Monitor

REYNOSA — At least six people are reportedly dead after several vehicles exploded during an apparent shootout Tuesday evening.

Gunfire and explosions erupted about 5 p.m. Tuesday along the highway between Monterrey and Reynosa on the city’s far west side, near the Anzalduas International Bridge, sources said.

Apparently slain in the battle were two Mexican army soldiers and four suspected drug cartel members who were burned to death inside an SUV. A woman was also reportedly shot in the rear end and was rushed to an area hospital for surgery, a source said.
