Professional courtesy prohibits me from saying much about the current article, but I can tell you that in 1200+ rounds my results were not as favorable as his. My article will include all of my experiences with the gun as I experienced them. However, I don't disagree with his conclusion that at $800 Spike's offers a damn good value.

I would not support his statements, whether overt or veiled, that anyone buying a BCM, Colt, etc. is over-paying, but if you've only got $800 then you've only got $800 and at that price point Spike's is king dingaling IMHO.

Have you fired any steel cased ammo through Spikes for an extended sessions? What were the results?

I see that you are still able to see and type. So it is my assumption that even after firing 1200 rounds, that the rifle did not detonate, sending bolts and barrel shrapnel to your face. Correct?

I'm looking forward to Rob_S's article.

I own a variety of barrels- BCM, Spike's, DD, a Noveske 12.5", lowly CMMGs, complete pre-ban Colts, and my Spike's barrel has run without fail. (oddly enough, the Noveske 12.5" has been the most problematic of that lot) To further what Rob_S relayed about value, I got a complete somewhat custom upper for $685 with the following......

    16" midlength, 4150CMV, 1/7 twist
    fixed front sight
    9" BAR rail
Nickel boron bolt, carrier, hammer (the NiB carrier has been moved to another carbine)
    T-2 buffer
    3 x ladder rail panels

Is it a bench rest or safe queen? No. It's a training carbine that does what I expect it to. I find that AR malfunctions tend to manifest themselves either very early (like in the first 100 rounds), or well into the thousands of rounds. YMMV.

Still no documents from Spikes, despite repeated promises. Classy.

I don't see why. Tom stated in April or May over on TOS that he had them on his desk, ready to go.

Titling your thread "To XYZ or Not to XYZ" will cause me to completely ignore your thread.

    How much time?

They have to know and understand that this looks bad. Reading through the thread on TOS you even have a coupe of drooling "fanboys" starting to get disenchanted. Only the die-hard ostriches seem to still be holding fast.

This isn't anything against the product. If the barrel isn't as being represented the gun itself is still a good value at the price, but a lot of people are going to have an issue with buying one thing and getting another.

Which is, as I say, IF. They say that it is one thing, and that they have paperwork to show it. I have a small inkling of what Tom was working on behind the scenes but I think this whole drama is getting a little long in the tooth, and I'd like to see it put to bed with the documents that should exist already.

I think the current drum beat over there is
"well, no one else shows their paperwork, why should tom"
    specifically, pointing to Grant
