Well, for whatever reason, I think you have made it clear you intend to cast dispersions on my credibility without the slightest hint of evidence or reason.

It will be interesting to see what your article that you are being PAID to write will say also. I am sure it will stick out as a literary masterpiece among the other honest reviews. I was very forthcoming about my association with or lack thereof with Spike's and the fact that the rifle was free. Just because others, in your opinion, are not capable of maintaining integrity, does not mean that I am not. However, apparently you are the last vestibule of hope left for the godly among us.... as long as it costs less than 100.00.

On the subject of character and integrity, I think you have shown yours by attacking mine without reason.

It is a shame you had to go this direction. I would have thought we had more in common than difference.

I edited my post to try and clarify what I mean, but I see you're going to persist in taking offense. I'm starting to think maybe that's a clue...

To be clear, I am of the opinion that by not clearly and honestly stating UP FRONT in your review that this is a rifle you received for free, to keep, the entire review is tainted.

BTW, there is talk of the IRS beginning to tax such items as compensation, so start keeping records. The "lets start a website and get free shit" gravy train may be going off the rails shortly.

So I should not take offense to you questioning my integrity by making references WITHOUT EVEN WATCHING THE VIDEO that I was somehow biased in my OPINION?

Come on ROB, we are both smarter than that.

Your opinion is noted, and I disagree. However, I can see where in the future, I may want to do that and probably will.

However, as being a published professional reviewer, perhaps you could recommend that to the next guy instead of calling his character into question.

You're so fixated on this character thing...

Don't hide things, and people won't question your character. By NOT stating the truth of the arrangement up front and clearly you invite this kind of scrutiny. Hell, at least say it "Spike's was nice enough to send 'us' (who is "us" anyway?) a rifle". I'd prefer to hear "xyz company sent me a 123 item and I get to keep it for free after the review is complete" but I know nobody is going to do that.

Whether or not you intend it, not stating the arrangement clearly and upfront tends to make people wonder what else you might be hiding.

The fact that you disagree that hiding the truth, whether intentionally or not, taints the review, only further calls things into question. If you don't want your integrity questioned:
    1) Don't post glowing reviews on the internut. Someone will call you a dishonest fanboy. It happens.
    2) to attempt to minimize the occurrence of #1, be as up-front and forthright as you can.
    3) Hiding one thing makes folks wonder what else you are hiding.
    4) Not clearly stating that you got a rifle and upper for free is "hiding" something.

Other than doing the review, I have no personal or professional affiliation with Spike's.

I previously owned one of their 22 kits, that I like very much, so I sought them out to do a review on one of their rifles since all the ones I had been around seemed to run and look nice.

I am planning to do future reviews of more of their gear.

I realize when doing reviews, integrity of the tester is important. You can rest assured, and Tom Miller will confirm, if something is jacked up, I will tell it like it is.

I even visited their shop too see the assembly process, meet the team, and ask a few other questions. I was impressed.

This Spike's review is part of my first batch of reviews that I will be releasing soon. Hopefully they will get better. LOL.

I am about to drop reviews for Raven Concealment, Revision Eyewear, ATNnight vision, and MPRO 7 cleaning kitamong others.

I just watched your video. Very well put together (video quality and such). It however looked like a Spikes Tactical sponored commercial on Guns and Ammo TV. One suggestion, I would point out that you got to keep the weapon, upper and whatever else they gave you.

I understand that you say you weren't paid, but actually you were. You were paid well over $800 dollars. IMHO, this is not a good idea and is why no one ever believes gun magazine writers.

I wonder if the gun did not run if Spikes would have gotten all the nice pics, video, links to their website, phone number posted, talk about their CS and how great the owner was.

I am not going to get into your integrity or any of that other BS (as I don't know you). If you say you gave it a fair and honest review, then you did.

As far as the review goes, I think it was really lacking. You basically told the viewer to go to the Spikes website for the hard facts. About the only thing you covered was that they had a 5.56 NATO chamber. My question to you is, how do you know? Did you check it with a 5.56 NATO gauge or did you just take their word for it?

IMHO, if you are going to do a review, dive into the technical specs and verify what materials are being used, ask to see the certs AND run as many rounds through the gun as possible (which you did).

I am not sure why the gun wasn't shot with lubrication. AR's burn oil and require it to run well. Not lubing was just foolish and if you had a problem, you wouldn't know whether to blame it on a poor quality part or a stupid user trick.

The reason to go into the specs on guns (and require physical proof of claims) is because I probably could have gotten a BM or Oly AR to run 2300 rounds. So someone would have saw that and just thought to themself that those guns were equal to a Colt or BCM and that just isn't even remotely true.

Good luck with your reviews and look forward to watching more of them.

I have a clear opinion on this matter, but since my job is moderation I am simply going to say, "Move on" from the personal disagreement/conversation sub-topic inside this thread. No one will convince the other at this point, so quit dragging it around. I mean specifically the right versus wrong in receiving gun for free versus unbiased/biased opinion.

    Ok?

    Thanks.

Yeah, this "character thing". OK What the hell was I thinking? Funny how you dismiss that which you so vehemently call into question without knowing me or watching the video even.

Sorry I did not follow ROBS' formula for the perfect first try at a video review. Obviously you set the standard for all to follow.

    1) Before you show your ignorance, actually watch the video.
    2) Again, my blood type is O+, I guess I should have listed that also.
    3) Nothing was hidden, as evidence in my immediate disclosure here when the video was basically released before it was intended.
    4) Nothing was hidden

BTW boss, "us" is the people who ran the rifle and my friend who assisted me hosting the class and with the review.

However, despite your complete lack of couth, I see now Jedi master that you are correct.

In the future, i will clearly state exactly what was paid for what I am reviewing.
