I have a YHM stainless Phantom suppressor for my AR SBR and I like it quite well. A bit heavy but it's pretty good.
May God have mercy on my enemies, because I won't.

All barrel lengths have a place for them. Does a 7.5 engage a long distances effectively? Not really. Is it still lethal? Possibly.

That is why most sub 10" rifles are labelled as PDW as they are meant to be up close and used for defense. These are not meant for open battlefield conditions.

Conversely a 20" has its place as well and may not be as good for jumping out of a Humvee or CQC. But it has great potential for reach out and touch someone.

If you can afford both - I say go for it. As for reliability, that is always subjective based on many factors.

Might want to look at the dates of this post before necroposting. Especially since you aren't posting any groundbreaking info.

    7.5" probs

So i am getting stuck in battery, and found while cleaning it that a gas ring was blown. I'm gonna replace the ring, and try it again, then try a heavier buffer (H2). it ran pretty good with factory wolf but alot more issues with reloads. These reloads work just fine with my 14" barrel AR.

This statement is 100 percent true the uppers they had prior were lmt's. The now switched to model 1 a couple of years ago.

There was an article in SAR years back in the new product section that featured a gas tube called the Moderator built specifically for the 7.5" AR barrels. I called the number from the ad and spoke to a gentleman by the name of John Parmerton from Movie Gun Services out of NY. John stated the moderator was built to trick the short barrels into functioning like a 20" barrel. I bought two and tried one on a DPMS barrel, worked perfectly. He said the Moderator shined in full auto because it solved the bolt bounce issue on short barrels. I'm not sure those tubes are still available.

Interesting. I'd like to see a photo of the Moderator next to a standard tube for comparison.

Unless there's a patent involved, seems like a minor correction for SBR reliability if it does in fact work as advertised.

The tube is the same length. The tube has a cylindrical portion, resembling a muffler. The cylinder portion is about 1/4"-5/16" in diameter. I would post a pic but am not home now (gone for a week).

My next build is a 7.5" once I sell my HK MR556A1 and ACOG TA31F-RMR. I'm pretty interested in the Noveske setup and the M1S setup. This thread has some damn good info regarding this.
