    Hello all,
I am new to these boards as I just started to get into rifle shooting (Mainly AR platform). Until recently, I was mainly a 1911 pistol shooter. I ordered myself a real nice Noveske N4 16" carbine with the BC 1.5 attached on it and I couldn't wait! However, I live in NJ so I made sure that I got something legal. In NJ, no flash suppressor and I was told this was a compensator/muzzle brake which would be fine. My FFL has refused to release this rifle to me so far because he feels that the NJ definition of what a flash suppressor is applies to this. I am now looking at having to send this rifle back even though Alan, my FFL, and I believe that it's ok to have in NJ. If anyone has any insight to this, I would love to hear about it. Thanks and I got to get out of NJ....

    Greetings fellow NJ'er,

I've called the makers of the Battlecomp and they have assured me that the device is NJ legal. There is a statement on their site that confirms this. Also, I've called the NJ State Police on this as well. They said that as long as the item sold it listed as a compensator / muzzle brake, it is NJ legal. If you go on http://www.njgunforums.com, under the Rifle section, under AR's, there is a pic thread w/ multiple instances of NJ'ers w/ Battlecomps on their AR's.

Have your FFL call the NJ State Police to verify.

Thanks for the info. My FFL is not accepting what was posted on their website as concrete proof that it is acceptable in NJ. Now, just as an FYI, my FFL is an establishment that I've got a very good relationship with and it's just that they don't want to get burnt. Alan from BC, my FFL, and I even spoke over the phone about this and I'm stuck in an enpasse as they are still not comfortable releasing the rifle to me. I will have to speak with the NJ State Police myself just to see if they tell me what you told me. Thanks.

Is the BC perm'd on per NJ law? I am just asking as I don't know NJ law.

If not perm'd, remove it. Put it in your pocket and attach the cheapest "acceptable" comp you can find and move on. Or if bare muzzle is allowed do that.

If perm'd, tell your buddy FFL to help you out and contact NJ state police.

Hello. NJ law REQUIRES all muzzle attachments to be perm'd pinned and/or welded on the end of the barrel before any FFL will allow the transfer of the firearm. I contacted the NJSP by email to see if they can clarify for me. Otherwise, the rifle is going back to Noveske as my FFL will not do the transfer unless they are 100% satisfied. Note that my FFL does not consider those in NJ that have BCs on their rifles as legal yet. One of the store employees is a retire NJSP officer and he is telling them it's illegal in NJ. Sigh..............

Sounds like you need to find a new FFL. Or move to America.

I live about 20 miles from the NJ border crossing. I have build several NJ compliant rifles with battlecomps. They are legal.

I do too but the trouble is convincing my FFL that it's ok! I'm working with another FFL to see if he thinks the same about the BC.
