Got a little package in the mail today

Thanks to Alan and Nick... hope to get some rounds through it this week if I can. Got some of the guys lined up to rip on it too!
Remember, the Founding Fathers reason for the 2nd Amendment... to combat tyranny. Sadly, when people discuss the 2nd Amendment, the opponents erroneously think it was meant to stand alone... it HAS a preamble:

"...But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security..."

I had a chance to use the BattleComp on a SCAR a few weeks ago, and it certainly works as advertised.

Tonight, I've been working with Alan and Marty for a custom project I am working on, and the two have been excellent to deal with. Can't wait to get some hardware in hand to get my rifle built and begin using this thing. Pics and video surely to follow.

    Thanks guys.

I posted this quick review the on Saturday on a different site when I first recieved my BattleComp as I was still awaiting the results of my background check for this site.

After checking out the one Steve has on is SCAR and reading about it on another forum, I decided to buy one myself. I ordered it Thursday and it shipped the same day via USPS priority mail. When I went out to get the mail today, there was a box from BCE. The company already had my attention from what I was reading but having my new comp arrive here in 2 days was excellent in my opinion, especially when it is coming from Kalifornia. That is the kind of service many companies should show.

The BattleComp came in a plastic bag with directions and a new crush washer. Without haste I removed my A2 flash hider from my SBR and installed the new BattleComp. I used a small amount of Permatex Anti-Seize on the threads after I cleaned them with a nylon brush and some degreaser. The BattleComp screwed right on without an issue. It was finger tight with the bottom at the 3o'clock position and with the aid of a 3/4in wrench I turned the comp till the bottom was at the 6 o'clock position. Overall, assembly was very easy and even though they recommend a gunsmith install it, it really does not take much to install.

Here are a few pics of it installed and at the range.

After I had it all installed I was anxious and had to take a trip to the range. This was just a short impromptu trip as a full AAR of how it preforms will follow. All I can say is that I put 3-30rd mags through it and I was giggling like a school girl at recess! The comp work like it is advertised, the muzzle stays down, it is not blasty and loud, even when standing next to it.

Since then I was able to hit the range again and run some more rounds through the new comp. I am very pleased with it.

As shooter521 posted it also ran well with his HALO on it.

    HALO Integration

Just so everyone knows, Gemtech has advised the following:

1.) The diameter of the BattleComp 1.0 is .850, and as such, slips into the HALO a little too easily. While function is fine when the HALO is on tight, if the HALO loosens up while firing -- there is some opportunity for suppressor "droop," which could cause problems with concentricity. Most folks won't experience it just through experimentation.

2.) The ideal diameter for the BattleComp to integrate with the HALO is .862, so the next batch of BattleComp 1.0s will have the .862 diameter, or ribs to .862, to accommodate HALO integration.

    We hope that helps!

    Best,
    Alan

was the original OD arbitrarily chosen? will the ID change? if not, will the extra vent wall thickness change performance?

Good questions. The original BattleComp OD was chosen to mimic the OD of the A2 as measured in the center of the vented area, not the raised rib around the A2 nose which is slightly larger. My design intent was for a stand alone device so my original OD dimension was chosen to reduce weight and size, not specifically to address fitting inside of another device. To accomodate the Halo, I plan to increase the OD to the optimal size which should add about .012" to the overall OD. This will not change internal dimensions or performance parameters and will add very minimal weight to the BC. Hope this answers your questions.

I know next to nothing about suppressors so I have to ask, will the HALO only be compatible with the BC 1.0, or will it be compatible with the 1.5 as well? I'm guessing that the longer length of the 1.5 will make it a no-go, but I don't know for sure.

    100%, thanks.

have you considered just adding a rib to the fore, like the A2?

i'm just picking your brain because i'm very interested in design and manufacturing processes, and you guys are way more forthcoming with information about both than basically any other manfer we have on this board.

    you guys are rad.
