What'll the pricepoint of the BC1.5 be? I just looked at the babc's and noticed they were $70 more than the 1.0's. I wouldn't have thought they would be that much more. Is it because the production runs of the babc are smaller?

The BC1.5 should be within $10-15 of the BC1.0, if any increase at all.
Pricing is based on material, amount of material, machine time and quantity. The BABC is almost 65% more material to start both in length and diameter (it's not like we can use what is removed from inside and out), 55% more machine time (less than two BABCs per hour per 5-axis CNC machine) and produced in much smaller quantities than the BattleComp 1.0.
We could investigate metal injection molding, casting, and other less expensive production methods to lower the cost -- but I will only run machined parts on the end of my own ARs.
YMMV.

The BABC requires much more machine time due to the increased size. The process is such that the speeds/feeds must be adjusted to maintain tolerances and tool integrity when doing the internal cuts. We broke a few during the prototype machining while zeroing in on settings. The additional vents and details also add time. We won't sacrifice quality or safety for speed.
I don't know at this time what the cost will be on the 1.5 but it shouldn't be too far from the standard 1.0. I am still finalizing the design so don't have accurate machining time numbers as yet. Check our website for updates soon. Thanks!

Thanks, I'm really excited to try your product when it comes out.![]()
I know you were all on the edge of your seats, waiting for an update. The BC 1.0 arrived, and I was able to install it on the DSA upper with fluted barrel. It twisted on lightly, the threads matched perfectly.
Now I have to try and get to the range, but I'm waiting for the TR24 to arrive Monday.
The BABC looks very nice on my 7.5" 6.8 SPC. This pic doesn't really do it justice, it looks much better in person but at least it gives an idea.

Thanks for the detailed explanations. For people like me who have no machining/fabricating knowledge, background, or experience it's nice to be able to communicate with the right people and get reasonable and rational explanations as to why things cost what they cost. I was also a bit surprised when I saw the price difference between the 1.0 and the BABC. Now I understand why. Please keep up the good work.

Alan makes a very good point. From what we saw in previous testing, ammo choice made a huge difference out of a 12" barrel. I would be very interested in your observations with your short barrel configuration. Unfortunately we live in occupied territory so cool rifles like yours are not readily available for testing purposes. Have fun!
Cheers,
Marty
