    Front Site

Anybody have anything to say good or bad about Front Sight Firearms Training Institute? Is it considered to be a good training school? Keep seeing there show on TV and they sent me one of there DVD's a while back. Seems a little over the top to me like a tv infomercial. Just curious if it's legit or not.

Had a feeling that something seemed fishy for some reason. Never heard anyone talk about Front Site before though. That being said I don't put much stock in anything that asshole from mad dog knifes says. He seems to have a habit of attacking good people for no good reason. Any other sources?

I get the emails all the time.

I would take classes from some of the other places first. They are cheaper too. I do not know anyone that has taken any Front site course but I do not many who have taken others.

I have no 1st hand experience with Front Site, nor do I know anyone else who does.

Speaking for myself here, between all the rumors I would consider spending money with FS to be risky given what little I know about them at this point.

I know with absolute certainty that Larry Vickers offers excellent instruction, as does Blackwater Training Center.

If I am going to spend money on training I would much rather spend it with someone like Larry Vickers, or Pat Rogers, or Blackwater....outfits/instructors who either have excellent reputations and positive comments from former students who can be trusted, or with whom I have first hand experience.

YMMV, offer void where prohibited, etc.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I Just keep getting those silly email solicitations from Front Site so I wondered about they're validity as training school.

Check out LMSdefense.com. A top notch operation. Also Larry Vickers is the man.

I attended their two day rifle class as I got several free training slots. Their curriculum, facilities, and instructors were all good. The curriculum should be good as it originated at Gunsite. Downside to the training was the "time share" presentation given by Ben Ackerman. His presentation was excellent, but very pushy to sell their memberships etc. Also the mindset lecture, while compiled from a variety of excellent sources Cooper, Ayoob, etc. , was delivered by a guy not up to the task. Finally, Frontsight seemed focused on churning out lots of students. Regarding the "timeshare", it didn't make sense that if they kept selling memberships to train free for life that at some point no one was going to pay, thus the instructors wouldn't get paid. Which I heard was a problem.

Bottomline is that unless given free or very discounted vouchers to attend I would pass it up. The full retail price is as much or more than attending Gunsite or a Vickers Tactical or EAG class. The queston to ask yourself is, would you purchase a massed produced Yamaha motorcycle or a custom made chopper if you could pay the same price? I prefer the custom made chopper myself.

    S/F
