Good Lord, when has ANY AR-15 lower actually failed in use? Your lower is more of a fashion statement than anything. Heck if Bushmaster and CAVARMS can get away with those plastic lowers, just about anything would work. Pick a lower that you like the looks of and tell the guys who criticize it to jump in Monterey Bay (maybe they will find Denver while there...).

What does everyone think of Spikes Tactical? I was shopping on Brownell's site and I found Spikes Tactical lowers for $89.99 which seems way too cheap for a quality receiver...

Then what is the huge Forged vs. Billit debate about then? That's good news to hear, but alot of the threads on here would beg to differ, I think.

The forging process makes the metal harder and more able to resist blowing up, but since the lower is never subjected to such forces, it does not matter. A new billet lower design can be implemented with a low investment. The designer just needs to program his CNC machine, and away he goes producing the new product. A forging requires more capital investment up front, and a greater volume would need to be sold to recover the capital investment.

As for other threads saying whatever, I will not worry about it. Those folks are free to be wrong all they want.

    My opinion:

A lower is a lower, just stay away from the rare cast DPMS.

I wouldn't take a FREE casting, let alone buy one.

I've built on several different ones for myself and for others, and I have been quite pleased with Aero Precision.

BCM for complete lowers, my 2nd choice for complete would be LMT.
Daniel Defense for stripped lower, my 2nd choice for stripped would be a S&W.

Living in the oppressed state of California, I can't help but think that every time I pull out my credit card to make a purchase in one of my local gun shops, I'm being raped...One of my usual shopping grounds today had Smith and Wesson M&P15 receivers for $189 plus tax and dros, CMMG for $169 and Stags for $169...What are all you out-of-towners paying in your home states for these same receivers?

I usually purchase my stuff out of state to avoid our high sales tax. The last lower I bought was a Daniel Defense and it was about 120.00 which included shipping. We have no DROS fees.

I think I saw Bushamster lowers for 109.00 stripped here, but I honestly don't pay attention.
