My Memorial Day Experience (Long)
For those of you who don’t know, I am an Active Duty MP in the Air Force. Well after work I was hungry as can be and went to a local Subway. I was in my BDU’s, which I don’t normally wear my uniform out in public, but I was too hungry to go home and change first. I’m sitting there enjoying my sub, and in walks two kids about 18 or 19 my guess, 110 lbs, with long shaggy hair, looks like modern day hippies. I look up to see who just came up and this is when the fun begins.
One of them mumbles something at me,
Me – “Excuse me, did you say something?”
Hippie – “What you’re doing is wrong!”
Me – In my best WTF are you talking about face, “What am I doing that is so wrong?”
Hippie – “Wearing that uniform, involved with killing millions of innocent people over there!”
Now after dealing with 2 domestics, 2 T/A’s, and a shoplifting from the BX, I was all out of patience with anyone.
I stand up, walk over to the kid, get about 6 inches from his face and tell him, “ How about we take this outside, then you can watch as I stomp a mud hole in you and walk it dry!”
Then the pretty girl working there called the police.
Then his little friend walked up like he was going to do something, I looked at him and laughed, then said, “I’ll take both of you hippies at the same time if you want to go there.”
Well by that time the police showed up, the officer asked “What’s going on?”
The hippies started “He said this, he said that. He threatened me, I want him arrested!”
The officer tells then to pipe down and asked me what happened. I told him what happened. The officer says no big deal, then goes over to the hippies, “The next time you want to pick a fight with a service member, I’m going to let him kick your a$$, hell I might help. This is Memorial Day and you should thank him for what he has done for this country.”
So they left with out any further incident. Man I think some parents forgot to beat these kids enough. After they left, the officer thanked me and gave me his personal cell number, and told me to call anytime I have to deal with the “Ungrateful”.
Well that my story I thought I would share with you guys.
I want to Thank all vets and all service members, past, present, and future!
