    FFJoey,

You can build a carbine from BCM for just around 900.00 and it will blow Bushamster, DPSM, CMMG and the other trash out of the water.

There are various ways to do this, but here is an example. I would run this gun anyday of the week, assuming that it passed my inspection and everything was right.

    BCM M4 16" upper with BCG- 570.00

LMT complete lower from Dynamic Armament- 305.00
    http://dynamicarmament.com/items/ar-...ger-detail.htm

Then add in a a Magpul MOE handguard and a Magpul rear MBUS and you will be at about 930.00.

Just go quality from the start. You will regret going cheap later. You will not regret going quality later.

    It's that simple.

Check the m4c equipment exchange. Good deals to be had there. Don't forget to take pics and post whatever you decide on( unless it's a CMMG)

If you are in the the puget sound area, check out Federal Way Discount Guns off of Pac Hwy close to the Commons mall. Talk to Moe the owner he will set you up. The store has a great selection ( Colt, BCM, DD, and others) and will special order anything you need. They do transfers and will help you with complete or stripped lowers if you decide to build up your AR. Best prices and most knowledgable crew in the puget sound area.

The only other spot I will shop at is Champion Arms in Renton by Ikea, decent prices and good service. Stay away from DGS ( discount gun sales) trust me.

This is a damn nice build, no doubt. Probably the best I've seen for the money, though I add it up to $945.

But here's the thing to remember...assuming his max is $900 (and not less, since he did say $700-$900) he has a fee to pay his FFL and then buy mags and ammo. Even if you take the mags and ammo out of the picture, it is still an easy $1,000 build.

If I build one then the end price can be more because I won't be shelling out all the money at once. I want to end up with a good quality rifle when everything is said and done. If I build one, that means I can buy it one part at a time and can save up money for each part.

If you are willing to part the gun out, and buy it Johnny Cash style then what IG suggests, or some variant thereof, would probably be best.

While a bit long, I hope that this article will help you understand the pros and cons of this route.

Well there you go buddy. That is the right way to do it these days, no doubt. This whether you have someone do it for you or do it yourself.

But remember, if you go the ideal route suggested then the title of this thread may need to be changed. Just wouldn't be fitting anymore.
