I just ordered one of these. I should have it by mid next week. It's going on a BCM light weight 14.5".

I keep thinking about getting a magnifier with quick detach (don't care if it flips to the side or not) to put behind the Eotech once in a while. I guess I'll have to get the correct mount to line it up with the higher mount of the EXPS2.

So how has your unit been working so far?

The FTS (A.R.M.S.) mount that Eotech supplies with the G23.FTS magnifier comes with an optionally-installed 7mm riser that can be installed so that it matches the mounting height of the OPMOD (or Eotech EXPS3, or any RDS optic on a riser). It provides co-witness in the lower-third. That A.R.M.S. mount does have a quick-detach lever and it goes on and off pretty easily. I use that magnifier occasionally on four different rifles, including an OPMOD, an Aimpoint T-1 (LT660 mount) and an Aimpoint PRO.

Reportedly, Eotech will be announcing a new/improved version of their magnifier/mount system at this year's SHOT show. 3.25X that is diopter-adjustable, wider FOV, and an improved mount not made by A.R.M.S.

i have this setup..OPMOD Exps and magnifier, it will add almost 2 pounds to your rifle. I use 2 different butt stock setting depending on if i have the magnifier flipped up or not. i like this setup but im thinking of ditching the magnifier for weight reasons alone.

this is on my colt 6920.

Not to split hairs, but my G23.FTS mount with riser installed weighs 12.2 oz. The OPMOD weighs 11.2 oz.

I guess I'm going to have to hunt for a magnifier soon, hell I'd go for one of the older 4X units if I could find one. I don't know why they stopped making them and went with 3X. Either way I think it's a nice to have item for any carbine that has an Eotech on it. You get the best of all worlds. A fast red dot 1X and 4X should you want it all for the same price as a Leupold with 1 piece LaRue mount.

It doesn't have to be an Eotech. But the thing that gives the Eotechs the advantage is their 1 MOA dot, which remains nice and crisp under the magnifier. The 2 MOA dot on the PRO isn't bad...completely usable. IMHO, the magnifier turns the 4 MOA dot on the T-1 into a marginally usable blob.

I don't know about their new mount, but the old one that I have is reversible so that you can set it up to flip to the left.

I had mine Cerakoted. $25 at Alternative Firearms Coatings.

Interestingly, I noted when I pulled the hood off to send it away, the EXPS3 night vision button is right there on the chassis under the hood. Yes, I tried pushing it but it didn't put it into any night vision settings. Circuitry is either not present or it's disabled.
