FA carrier doesnt weigh that much more than a semi carrier
i dont remember weights off the top of my head, but i believe there's as much weight difference between a 15 and 16 carrier as there is between a C and H buffer, even more of a difference between C-cut carriers and 16 carriers.
somebody feel free to post actual weights if you know 'em.
These are carbine buffer weights I've seen in other threads:
Standard 2.9 oz
H 3.8 oz
H2 4.7 oz
H3 5.6 oz
9mm 5.5 oz
Also I'm almost certain I've heard that there's about 0.9-1.0 oz. difference between a shrouded AR and full M16 carrier, about the same as the difference between a standard carbine buffer and H-buffer like bkb0000 said.

I like running a ligthened carrier (6.25 oz) and buffer (3 oz) myself. Rifle is super flat and likes running DIRTY.

For those that say USPSA/IPSC/3-Gun isn't tactical...speed is a tactic!
if i understand it correctly, even if the reciprocating mass is the same for the two combinations, there'll be a difference between the two. this is because that the weights in the buffer reciprocate within the buffer body itself. in other words, the motion of the weights do not follow the same exact motion as the buffer body when it moves. so, a heavier buffer will have more contribution to reduction in bolt bounce than the same weight in a heavier carrier.
if the buffers were solid, then there wouldn't be a difference between combinations.
