Has anyone installed an AAC MITER Blackout on their 14.5 middy w/ DD 12" rails? It seems like it would be a tight fit. I believe the MITER goes 2.5" back onto the barrel.

Got mine in last week...
Didn't like the Troy with the 4 rails so I swapped it out with the Viking Tactics TRX that was on my 6.8 spc upper...
Makes it a nice, balanced package.
I also mounted a Daniel Defense front and rear BUIS and a Aimpoint Micro in a Daniel Defense mount....
I took it out to the range today after work to get it sighted in at 50 yards with some XM193 from my Pre-Obama stash. Man, I'm impressed by the FSC556!!! Barely any felt recoil, and it's all straight back.
Ran about 450 rounds through her of the XM193 and some of my "chex mix" ammo, which is a mixture of reloads, wolf and other sundry loose rounds I dump into an ammo can. After I zeroed I ran the modified "Navy" qual. drill a couple dozen times at 50 yards, throwing in multiple targets in the mix as well.
Anyway, so far I'm happy with this upper, and I'm looking forward to thrashing it well in the Redback One course this weekend!!!!

Well after all this love for the 14.5 and the PWS I don't think I can hold out any longer or change my mind back to a 16". Daniel Defense 14.5 LW Middy barrel, here I come.![]()

Glad to see 14.5" midlengths getting some good attention. I've been running a 14.5" lightweight midlength for a few years now. Tried telling folks right after I first got it how different it was, but it seemed few wanted to believe me or listen.

I think I might not have made my criticism in the light I intnded. I did not mean that better triggers are a crutch, but rather that putting something like a Geisele in a fighting AR is kind of a misapplication- in my opinion at least. Yes, there will be an improvement to the take-up and break, but those attributes are best applied to precision work. A shorter reset will reduce finger travel, and if the same speed of finger is applied the shorter travel will reduce time, but if the trigger spring is not forceful enough your finger will wind up waiting for the trigger to reset, which can cause the same problem you are trying to fix.
The stock trigger, while not optimally suited for precision work, does have a decent reset. The problem is not with the trigger, but with how one uses the trigger during the string. It's a lot like speed shooting a pistol. I don't really need a light trigger, I need a smooth trigger with a fast reset. Most non-burst ARs have triggers that meet that criteria, or at least after wear-in do.
So what I am getting at is that instead of trying to go light, teach your mind/finger to go fast.
Sorry for the delayed response, I wasn't following this thread very closely.
Alright finally got some rounds downrange in my upper that I got back from ADCO, and it's basically the same set up as Markm's. I'm stoked....and a little bummed. Great groups, love the recoil compared to my commando, but......it looks like I've got some carbon building up on the rails after I shot. It's a little ways back from the pinned VLTOR gas block, and I'm wondering if this is normal. I've never had a pinned low pro block before, only the FSP.
Anyone else get this?
Thanks all.
