Wow! It's running that ammo with an H3? Our upper would run Hornady with the H3, but you could tell it was a little too much buffer.

I can feel that it is on the edge of being over-buffered... I had a magazine not lock back a few times my first day out, but I realized I hadn't really lubed it properly... once I put some oil in the holes of the BCG it has been great even with the tula crap. Shot some 62 gr American Tactical ammo today and it felt perfect. I'm going to leave it in there until it becomes a problem.

Isnt that the green tip M855? That will be hotter than .223
I do find the Tula w/ H3 surprising, especially with all the threads proposing that BCM middys have smaller ports thus causing them to be "softer"

It's SS-109 5.56 made in Turkey... smells bad, looks clean, seems powerful enough. Only shot 30 rounds so the verdict is still out, but you could instantly feel the additional power vs. the tula stuff. Ordered 90 rounds of it since Ammo to go has free shipping on it. Can't afford much more right now.

I fully intend, based on some of the previous replies in this thread, to have to replace the buffer with an H2 or even an H, but until it becomes a problem I'm spending the money on more cheap ammo! Got some "Black Friday" Monarch at the local Academy Sports this morning!

Has anyone shortened their 16" to 14.5"?

    Purchased the BCM EAG upper.

    New member here.

This is the Mid-length, 14.5 inch, permanent A2X, BFH version from Bravo.

While I have only shot about 200 rounds through this so far, it is clearly a difference from my Colt Carbine. Seems to have softer recoil, as everyone has commented on already. It is easier to keep on target.

I believe that I will be well pleased with this upper -- seems to be everthing it is cracked up to be.

Thanks to all the posters that have touted this setup -- it has been a real pleasure reading your posts and looking at your pictures! Even if it did cost me some money.

I am thinking of doing just that using the battlecomp 1.5. Not sure if it is worth it though.

Hate to dig up an old thread, but I've been hankering for another AR setup and after reading this entire thread and watching all the videos, just smoked my credit card for a 14.5 middy setup.

No problem. I've been meaning to update this a little.

I ended up removing the PWS brake and puting an AAC mount on the barrel for a bit. No surprise, the gun shoots great with a silencer... like most 14.5s.

Last night I took off the mount and put a good old A2 bird cage on the barrel. I'll have to rezero again today.

The POI shif between the PWS and the AAC mount was huge.... like 4-5" at just 50 yards! I wonder if the FF barrel makes the POI shift worse than a standard handguard assembly.

Do you mean the POI shift you seen was just with the AAC mount installed, or with the can on it? If it was with the can, how heavy is the can? I figure there is a discrepancy at some point with FF rail setup but that sounds like a good sized shift at 50yd. Just wondering if the weight of the can hanging off the barrel caused this or if the difference in the flow of gasses between the PWS and the AAC mount was the culprit.
