Looking at your HK41, is the GSAD trigger group serial numbered to the rest of the gun? Also is the top SIG a PE90?

    1. No. That is the only one of my 41s that there is no marking on the GSAD trigger group. 2. No, the top SIG is a 551 Long Barrel. :-)

So given the finish mismatch, it's probably not original to the gun?

Had a "duh" moment on the 551, didn't look at the length of the handguards closely enough. Is that a CCF parts build?

That one is an extra housing I had for the 41 so not matched. No, the 551 started life as an LE 551 with the barrel extention to make it title one. I sourced an original 551 LB from JoshNC and had Estes Adams install it. I remember Larry's parts kits and wish I had bought one (or 5) back in the day.

Maybe it's just me, but the Swiss SIG 55x is just the most aesthetically pleasing rifle on the planet IMO. Functionally it does nothing better than a top tier AR, but man the SIGs just call to me.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought we had another "exception to the rule" HK rifle to talk about. A little bit insane that you have a spare GSAD trigger group, I'm now trying to strain my brain to figure out when GSAD imported any rifles with a black finish.

Thanks for clearing up the 551 mystery. There are a few LE 551s imported with 16" barrels that aren't in the LB profile (grenade ring) and I'm really wishing I grabbed one because they were there and then they weren't and we shall never see them again.

And we all wish we bought Larry's SIG and AUG parts kits, but it was during the Clinton ban and that whole "replacement receiver ONLY" crap scarred off most buyers.

Being a "holy grail" rifle doesn't hurt either. I definitely have a thing for rare Euro exotics. I think the main attraction is it was the last of the "old school" rifles to be developed. After the Stg90 it seems everything was made of plastic with few exceptions.

I have one of the LE trade in 551-2 with 16" oal barrel. Mine is gray and is interesting in that it has no import markings or country of origin markings. It is marked "SG 551-2 SP" and the serial number on the left side and then has LE/gov restricted markings on the right side. I believe my rifle was one of a group that were drop shipped directly from Switzerland to the LE agency, this no import markings. I swapped out the black furniture for early green from a CCF 551-1 LB kit.
