I don't think anyone here is saying that a given individual doesn't have the "right" to buy the original over a copy.

However, putting "who cares" is threadshitting and contributes nothing to the OP's comments on his own first hand experience with the things.

    Back the topic:

Has anyone tried mounting their Microdot on anything other than the PA riser? It's my understanding that the Micro's sit higher than an Aimpoint T-1/H-1, so I assume one would encounter problems with cowitnessing.

I think there are 1 or 2 other mounts that work, they were posted in another thread.

I'm looking for a sight to put on a 22LR set up one of this sounds like it will work just for what it is..
I tried out one of the "Strike Force RDS a while back the mount, you need wrench to remove
and batt life suck went though 2 batts at range in few hours.

I reccently purchased a PA micro sight, my origional one had issues and was promptly replaced by PA. A phone call, I sent it back and three days later a new one arrived. The new sight centered over the front post of my .22 upper like my other RDS. At the range I was sighted in at 25yds with a few shots. It was a bright day and I used the #4 and #5 setting for my plinking. For a .22 I think this is a great sight, and should last for quite a while. For a .223 I don't know how long it would last but I have a friend who is on a budget for a RDS. I would recommend one of these sights to him until he can save up for an Aimpoint.

I'm getting pretty sick of this "intellectual" theft argument to tell you the truth. I understand it in relationship to things that actually have brand names applied to forged products (like the fake magpul stuff, fake optics with "aimpoint" on them and so on), but really give it a rest.

When I go to a gun store and just look at a traditional scope, the aesthetics, shape and function are all somewhat similar. It's only once you get down to quality issues involving reticle, glass, strength that they differ. So using your argument the original designer of a telescoping optic for a rifle owns all the rights to the concept, and every other company is just a knock off...

Now that this red dot technology is becoming more readily available you will start to see people "knocking off" the design. That's what the free market does. It competes.

I agree that the Aimpoint is the top quality optic in the RDS world, but I'm not going to buy another T-1 or even an H-1 to put on my dedicater 22LR upper. The PA Micro offers me a trainer optic to use with my trainer rifle. I wouldn't think of using the 22LR in a defensive situation so the Micro is not an issue. The only fighting with this optic I will do, if it fails, will be with customer service, which sounds like it's good.

I see a Gen 2 and gen 3 Micro listed on the web site. Is there a difference between the two other than the Gen 3 comes with a kill flash?

I agree I have several uppers that could use a T-1 before my .22 upper gets one. Before I bought the PA micro I would swap a T-1 off my primary rifle but the POI was off some. I would shoot it but it pissed me off. I decided to buy the PA sight, now it is the dedicated sight for that upper and it is dialed in.

This is the best I could come up with. If you take the Gen 2 and add the cost of the kill flash in it is the same price as the gen 3.

AP H1 in LaRue mount in back (tan) PA in their mount in front (black)
    The PA sits slightly lower.

I meant the height of the optic itself, independent of the mount. In that picture, if you were to mount the PA Microdot on the Larue mount, it would then be sitting too high to look through with your sights.

Maybe the LT660HK would work better...
