    MR556 due in August

I am seeing alot of gun dealers offer pre-orders for the MR556 which is due in august.
so if the rifles are soon to hit the shelf anyone know if just a MR556 upper will be available at the end of the year or ever?

    No separate upper:
"To conform to German export regulations, certain design changes made in the MR556 prevents the rifle's upper receiver from being used on other AR-style firearms." From the HK USA Website.

the european version - aka MR223 - is not compatible with standard lowers...but the US version - aka MR556 - will fit.

Jesus Crust! I sincerely hope that 2 is really a 1, and I'm just lightheaded from all the propane tanks I had to service at work today.

... no? Oh wait, this is Heckler and Fail we're talking about. Of course.

Any estimate for what the upper receiver on its own will cost?

The complete rifle will likely retail for the SCAR price of $2500. I'm guessing that it will be worth every penny after my experiences with H&K products. If you want a high round count M16/M4 platform with minimal parts replacements, minimal maintenance, SCAR extreme conditions reliability, and exceptional performance the H&K will be a bargain. They are already earning quite a reputation in Europe, and the USMC have adopted it with a heavy barrel as a SAW replacement.

If we can get a 10.5'' MR556 upper + heavy barrel I'll have to save a penny to buy one.

It's the only platform that I'd consider replacing my LWRCi with. (Piston at least.)
    We miss you, AC.

LWRC m6a3 rifles are going around $2300.00 the ACR is 2100.00, HK always cost more, but they have a proven track record. Sometimes if you want a BMW you gotta pay BMW price. because just like the car you know there are going to be HK snobs who will love being the first kid on the block to have one and telling all of us how much it cost.
