Death porn, like that "final destination" crap. They can watch it because they've never really lived life and have become desensitized to what they think is death. Like a bunch of Japanese fanboys. Young people like university students think they're very hard core, very open minded, intelligent, etc. Most of them have never had a single thought challenged, had to engage in debate, had to present evidence to back up an argument, or hung around anyone they didn't like. By and large they can't talk, can't love, or fight, they neither have loyalty nor in many cases the ability to spell loyalty. But they think they are oh so evolved because they saw CSI and watch Jon Stewart. Like Michael Savage laments "Look at me, I'm smart, I can even read the internet!"
There's a reason why the older shows and movies can really hit home, despite the lack of CGI. Many of the people behind the camera back in those days actually lived life.

A few months ago the show "family guy" had a segment where a vietcong ridicules a veteran at the vietnam war memorial. A panelist on a cable news network was asked (since his father served in vietnam) if his father was angry when he heard about this story. The panelist replied that his dad served in an artillery battery and pretty much had his hearing destroyed during the course of his service... but would probably be very angry if he had heard about it. Class vs Crass.

Unless I have knowledge of the area or the person calling; then yes I take the comments of a call on their face until I get on scene and find otherwise is true. Everything said to the 911 operators is recorded for recall if need be.
Or are you trying to make a point about being on scene and talking to a person face-to-face?
And how is a 911 operator suppose to read people and determine, over the phone mind you, that someone is lying or trying to manipulate the facts?
And what happens if they think something is BS and it turns out to be valuable information that the officer could have used it someone, maybe even the officer ended up dead?
Are you in LE?

Something seems really, really odd in this whole thing... Just seems off to me...
Having no more of the evidence than anyone else, I'm guessing this will turn out to be a chain of events that nobody could have forseen the end of as it was happening.
I'm also going to guess that the guy who was killed made some critical...and totally understandable...mistakes. I'm going to guess that there was some bad mojo going on between the guy and the costco employees leading to the 911 call. I'm going to guess that he was at least partially responsible for some of the bad mojo.
I'm going to guess that when he walked out the front door he had zero clue he was walking into police officers who were expecting some sort of violent maniac to emerge. I'm going to guess that when he was confronted by the cops he had absolutely zero clue what was going on, and I'm guessing that in his confusion he may have taken some actions in his confusion that were interpreted as hostile by the officers on scene...leading to his death.
To me the whole thing so far sounds like a perfect storm of elements that would be harmless on their own but combine to create the perfect storm of stupid, leading to tragedy....one that probably can't be laid at the feet of the cops. I doubt they shot the guy for kicks...but I can see how an otherwise normal dude can walk into a situation way out of his depth and end up being shot in the process.
