The radio traffic speaks for itself but the guy providing the commentary is utterly clueless about L.E. terminology and procedures. His bias is clearly evident as he continually states that there was no crime reportedly committed other than "petty larceny" by someone with a holstered firearm. The commentator totally disregards the subject's reported mental state, actions, etc.
The shooting may be justified or not, but the commentator seems to think that the officers, in their manner of response to the incident were predisposed to shooting the guy.
I agree as well.

The commentator states that he's prior LVMPD and he seems to have a good handle on the codes that are being used. He also states that "So now they're predisposed to a homicidal maniac." due to the description that's gone over the air which does take into account Erik Scott's mental state and how the police may be initially perceiving him as a threat due to what's gone out over the radio.
As far as his bias goes, in the literal sense what he was stating was correct but I do understand more of the officer's mindset than just simple petty larceny due to the report of a MWAG. However, Nevada has CCW permits and it's legal to OC here and it does not appear that was taken into account.
Obviously the commentator is very critical of Metro's actions but there are many reasons for this. I don't want to write down a list of things that have transpired lately due to it sounding like cop bashing but there are far more controversial deaths on Metro's plate than just this lone incident.
Some areas of Nevada still don't care what the law is in regards to firearms, particularly North Las Vegas.

I can't believe that they are still "investigating" this incident. As crowded as the COSTCO was supposed to have been you'd think that they would have more than enough witnesses who saw what really happened.
The problem is both sides of this issue are doing things that are counter to obtaining the truth. According to the video some witnesses had stated that he "was no threat at all". This type of statement does nothing but dirty up the waters even more. Then there is the "indefinite delay" to the Coroner's process - something that seems to be unusual enough to raise suspicion.
If people would quit making statements, accusations or threats based solely on emotion and limited information; then maybe the truth wil finally be allowed to emerge and justice can be served.

A little more than 30 days out from the event now. This is a complex multi-officer OIS investigation, with tech evidence and multiple witnesses. Not unthinkable, or even unusual, for such a thing to take this long.
I suspect the nuts and bolts have been gathered, now they're just putting them together.
Having more eye witnesses (and secondary witnesses) is likely to slow the process, not speed it up. Witness statements and testimony can vary widely in quality and reliability between two or more people seeing the same event. "What really happened" is a moving target with even the best ones.As crowded as the COSTCO was supposed to have been you'd think that they would have more than enough witnesses who saw what really happened.
