So you won't tell us what dept? That's not a pissing contest; I am encouraged to carry at work but only a handgun.

That is what I'm thinking. This thread makes me think of all the people I see on mountain with the best top notch snow board that have never gone down a bunny hill, or the people with a kick ass truck that has an engine bigger then the tranny can handle, and have never driven off road. Uggghhh.

After several thousand rounds through a DI system I can say that I trust my life with a well taken care of Stoner platform. The last thing I want to do is add a "wowza that's kick ass and trendy" item to a gun I love. Especially when it may effect the ability to send rounds down range.

    Did you just say "Capiche"?

So you work for Tony Soprano and he mandated that all of his muscle carry piston AR's? As the grandson of a 100% Italian immigrant who grew up in the Bronx, I can make this joke!

If you want an honest answer you wasted your money. Spend that money on training, and practice ammo. Tell Tony he's way off base with his assumptions about the superiority of a novelty piston system vs. a DI!

I would be interested in a piston system for my 7.5" simply for the cleaner operation. But I too do not have a need for a heavier weapon using a piston set up. All my DI's work well.
I can't imagine our department requiring a piston "Kit" addition to an already functioning system.

So far I haven't seen any indications of tilt. If I do, I think I will Machine my own buffer or modify an old Carrier somehow to compensate for it. I really like CMMG's design and may make one of my own with enough mod's to not be a Patent infringement.

Ah, oh, ah...... The boss and the county don't allow AK's like the 'Tony' you mention uses.
Although an AK is a better 'all around' weapon than an AR.

Well the reason you started this thread is to get feedback. If your happy with your purchase and have no concerns regarding it then why start a thread?

I don't believe this is an accurate statement at all. "A few years back" CMMG was nothing more than re-branded lowers with DPMS parts dropped on and in.

I don't think the piston concept is garbage. I think the ''DI is outdated'' argument is garbage. Read the DI vs. Piston temp measurements thread.
    We miss you, AC.
