Sounds like a good enough reason to move to a better, freedom loving state to me.
We interrupt this programme to bring you an important news bulletin: the suspect in the Happy Times All-Girl Glee Club slaying has fled the scene and has managed to elude the police. He is armed and dangerous, and has been spotted in the West Side area, armed with a meat cleaver in one hand and his genitals in the other...

While these words are indeed words to live by, the USGI M16 magazine system is famous the world over for its bolt-over-base stoppages, easy to ding feed lips, follower tilt and other issues.

I don't remember similar issues with M14 magazines, FAL magazines or G3 magazines (even the aluminum ones with regular range use).

The M16 mags have had more than their share of negative experience in the field, at the range and in the press. That's why there has been an almost continuous defense-funded product improvement program for these magazines. HK would not have developed their uber-mags had the original mil-spec USGI mags worked reliably. And TangoDown would not have designed their improved magazines.

The search for a reliable M16 magazine bled over into the private sector, too. Magpul would not have designed their improved follower and the PMag if the USGI mags had worked properly -- and if there would not have been money in a reliable M16 magazine. The magazine is the weakest link in the M16 weapons system. This has been well-documented.

If it ain't broke don't fix it, but if it is, then let's find a reliable fix and make it happen.

Then why did they develop the 416?

Similar reasons, but then we can start a debate as to whether or not piston-powered ARs are needed, or are even more reliable . . .

I'll just go on the record that manufacturing companies exist to make money. If there is a need (real or perceived) in any market, the goal of manufacturers is to produce that product so that they can make money.

That's over 50+ years with each. When I cleaned and test fired them with the same ammo, I was completely amazed that there were no issues with proper functioning.
I was once told by an national pistol shooting coach when I asked him about storing full mags... would it weaken the springs... he said

"did you put your truck up on blocks because you were storing it for a year while you were deployed because you thought your springs would weaken???"

Made all the sense in the world to me... Its my opinion that Mag springs only weaken with usage.

HK's mags have a reputation as bad as Cprod's trash. They may have developed it in response to problem USGI mags, but they failed big time.

And TangoDown would not have designed their improved magazines.
I tried one of the Tango Down mags. The should have named them "Weapon Down" mags. I dumped that gun stopper quick.
