Great AAR M4Fun!

I took this class with LAV (along with M4Fun and Heavy Metal IIRC) in July 2008 at South Hill.

This class was a little different.

New TTP and drills covered:

1) Pistol point shooting. A bit of this was undoubtedly incorporated from prior LAV/Ken Hackathorn Low Light Classes.

2) The weave drill.

3) The 100 yard agg. carbine drill (timed fire from prone position at 100 yards, sitting at 75 yards, kneeling at 50 yards, offhand at 25 yards).

4) Barricade shooting from standing and kneeling positions.

5) Night fire (a staple of Pistol and Carbine I classes but not always doable due to range restrictions)

6) Engaging moving targets, which was made possible by the unbelievable facilities at USTC.

7) A lot more shooting on the move (which I never get to practice live due to local range restrictions).

We skipped the Fallujah drill this time (just as well, the range gravel would have given the RPGee's some serious road rash).

I REALLY enjoyed this class, and I have to say that after taking a hiatus, I appreciate Larry's instruction more after having some time to train on my own and digest.

Larry is just excellent at imparting and emphasizing BASIC combat marksmanship skills. I strongly believe that BASIC skills are perishable and that they need to be sustained, and that was my motivation for attending.

This class was a perfect refresher and I was also pleased to see some new material (all good). Larry's presentation has gotten really smooth and integrated ... perhaps this is because of the time he's spent filming shows.

The class flowed very well, partly due to the manageable size (12+?) and the overall high level of marksmanship by class participants. There was some pretty damn good shooting in this class!

If you guys have a chance to attend any LAV classes at USTC/Blackwater, DO NOT HESITATE GO FOR IT. It is really worth your time - I found it to be incredibly convenient and efficient.
