1911,
Using the Old Testament to justify the modern nation of Israel is akin to their Koranic justification of jihad. I don't believe in the validity of the Koran. The Palestinians don't believe in the validity of the Torah/Talmud. Besides, how many Israelis are agnostic?
Bulldog,
I understand the point you're making, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter. The Israelis could give every Palestinian a chocolate cake every day and still come from eastern Europe, America and the ends of the earth to take possession of land on the authority of a faith and a theology John Q. Palestinian puts little or no credence in.
Lets say Canadians are all Muslims. In the Koran, Allah gives Canadians and their descendants the land of America. So they invade (or trickle in over a few decades and take over) and really crack down on us in a variety of ways. Then they offer us citizenship in the United States of Muslim Canada. How magnanimous of them.
Is that the type of thing we want to fund and morally co-sign? It doesn't sound very American to me. We've done it to the Indians but you won't hear anybody bragging about it today. Why is that ? It's because we have raised the moral bar for ourselves. The Indians could be nasty too. But we as a nation seem to regret killing them, uprooting them etc. Go figure.

I agree. Arabs don't seem to "do" advanced civilization very well. I'm probably coming across as pro-Arab, but that's not my stance. The Israelis can beat 'em down, just like hapless people are getting beat down in parts of the world we don't give a crap about. The difference is we are not giving those people billions in aid and "air cover" in world politics.
Don't forget to show my head to the people. It's well worth seeing.
