I always wondered why there should be any speed in re-holstering.
If you are re-holstering, the threat has passed and speed is not important.
Like Looey said. Assess the condition of your weapon(is the slide forward, do aI have a stovepipe? Should I re-load?) and re-holster at your leisure.
I sweep the area around my holster with my left hand and visibly watch the holster as I re-insert the pistol.
Why not look? If there was even a hint of a threat, I would not be re-holstering anyway. I can carry a pistol at sul for many minutes if I must.

My brother saw Deliverance and bought a Bow. I saw Deliverance and bought an AR-15.
