    Yeap,probably on the mark IG.

    1stID,
you can try a little test I used a few years ago with my tight chambered Armalites in selecting ammo.
Remove the upper from the lower.Remove the BCG,and clean the chamber and make sure its dry. Then point the muzzle at the ground.Take one of the unfired cartridges from the same lot your having issues with and drop it in the chamber.Apply a bit of pressure on the case head with your thumb or finger to fully seat the cartridge.Once that is done tip the muzzle upwards. If the round drops out of the chamber, repeat using several of the rounds. If the cartridge sticks, knock it out with a cleaning rod and check the ogive of the bullet for rifling and/or leade marks.
Thats a pretty quick little redneck test to see if the chamber is short and the ammo is suspect.
If the chamber is short you will either have to stay with .223 Rem ammo.In some cases even .223 Rem can cause issues, classic example would be Wolf as that ammo is loaded long and has a ogive on the bullet that is further foward than most(per Wolf and my personal experience) which will effectively jam the bullet in the short leade and pop primers.
Or contact one of the armorers here and see if the can ream the chamber with Neds 5.56 reamer.

BufordTJustice -thanks alot for your advise.

waffe- I will try that this coming week, Im all out of ammo..

this rifle has been somewhat of a headache for me, should have just bought a colt in the first place..or get another scar 16.. anyway ill do everything you guys have told me and ill post the results. If it comes down to the chamber is F**ked, ill probably get a colt upper, larue stealth upper or maybe a noveske set up.

again thanks everyone for your information and help.

There is an easier fix. Get a Daniel Defense or BCM barrel and then swap it out. The rest of the weapon will more than likely work fine. I would probably get a new bolt as well. That's me.

My thoughts as well. Swap that barrel/ bolt over to something decent and end the headaches.

well, I cleaned the chamber out really good this weekend. I wasn't that dirty, but needed it. I did your test with 3 different kinds of ammo, including the same ammo I used they day the round got stuck. I had no problems with the any of the rounds dropping free.

Well passing the redneck chamber test,I'd say since you have the weapon clean(and lubed) and there is apparently no obvious damage to the chamber etc.,I'd run it and see if the problem repeats itself. If the problem continues, try some different ammo, after that I'd send the rifle back to DPMS and let them work it out on thier dime.
DPMS has a warranty, and I'd sure not have a problem using it.
If no repeat offenses, then maybe you just had some bad rounds. Also next time try mortaring the FTE rather than prying the BCG open with the screwdriver....just remember to collapse your buttstock all the way down before buttstroking terrafirma..

Ill be taking it out this weekend and seeing how it runs with 5 different kinds of ammo. I will for sure send it to DPMS if the problems continues. haha, Ill try not to pry the bolt carrier open with a screw driver again, but no promises.
