    I have used it it on barrels, and a gasblock, it works pretty danged good

    Ya know not that I have said BBQ paint the Birchwood may not be such a bad idea it wont ad any thickness to the barrel, not that paint adds much but it does add some. If the comp is tight to the barrel the Birchwood may be a better bet.

    I don't think his state (NJ) will allow the bbl to be threaded and a FH installed.

    That is correct. However, i have been in discussions with the people at Battle Comp to thread and add a compensator, which is ok in NJ. The threads here have comvinced me that its a good compromise device under the circumstances.
