I was once hit by one of my 230gr .45 slugs at the end of a stage that bounced back off of a popper. It hit me in the groin and put me on the knees.
The RSO congratulated me on not dropping my pistol.....

The second time I shot an AR I was a victim of some pretty harsh splashback. About halfway into the mag I got whacked pretty hard right on the lens of my shooting glasses. Had I not been wearing glasses, I'd have more than likely lost my eye.
I finished out the mag, then examined the glasses. There was a decent sized scratch in the plastic lenses, which is what led me to believe I'd have lost my eye were it not for my eye protection. From that day on, I haven't once shot with out some form of eye protection. I've also been hit in the cheek right below my eye. It was no where near as bad, although it did break the skin (which is more than enough to destroy an eye).
Always wear eye protection! (The thicker the better at an indoor range.)
The luxury of freedom was not free.
I got stuck next to some fool shooting a DE .50 at an indoor range, and I was pelted by his shrapnel in the face every time he shot that thing.
I watched him destroy 2 hangers and the rope supporting them... (He was shooting very high)
The guy was kind of odd, his DE was the golden tiger stripe model and he had a .44 in a quick draw holster and he was all dressed up like a cowboy with the hat and pants tucked into his boots... and wearing a shoulder harness I guessed for his DE.![]()
Sounds like the Desert Eagle shooter has some "confidence" issues.![]()

I'm feelin' the love ... at least I serve a purpose in this life.
Kind of like Gus McCrae's horse when he was running from the Indians in "Lonesome Dove." I just ask that you guys put me down quickly so I don't suffer too much when you need to use me for cover.![]()
